TSS: EXPLORING MY WEEK — FEB. 12

Welcome to another Sunday Salon.

Let’s gather around, with our coffee or whatever, and explore the past week.

Have you ever had one of those weeks that feels surreal in its range of experiences?  My reading this week certainly falls into this category.  From the light-hearted to the dark and disturbing, the titles I’ve completed have left me somewhat on the edge.

In my blog posts, you can also see a reflection of the week.  From the beginning, as I created a new website, to my weekend reading experiences:

CREATING A NEW WEBSITE:  A BIG PROJECT

A NEW BEGINNING:  AN EXCERPT

WEEKEND READING — AND A MOMENTOUS OCCASION

Books Read/Reviewed-Click Titles for Reviews:

1.  Rainshadow Road (Friday Harbor Series), by Lisa Kleypas

2.  How to Eat a Cupcake, by Meg Donohue

3.  The Long Drunk, by Eric Coyote

4.  Iodine, by Haven Kimmel

Looking back, I see that I left little time for anything outside my home.  Stuck with my nose in my books, or plopped in front of the computer, I was bound to feel trapped by these experiences.

For this next week, I think I vow to mix my books and blogs with a little bit of the world outside.

I plan to walk a little, go to the gym, and maybe see a movie later today.  I really want to see this movie:

Has anyone seen it?  Any thoughts?

  1. I have been trying to go to yoga class to get myself away from the computer or books. I have been reading a variety of genres, including nonfiction, and I must say I like the mix! Have a great week and hope you get back on an even keel!

  2. I haven’t seen the movie but I am curious about it too Laurel. As for your walks… I can’t resist mentioning that books on your IPOD (yes, audio books) would be a great companion to your adventures outside AND probably keep you walking longer to enjoy the story line. 🙂
    Just saying….. LOL

  3. I’m looking forward to working out after almost a month of being sick. All those books look good, especially the first two. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but it’s at the drive-in so maybe it’ll still be there next week. I love going to the drive-in. If not, I’ll go to the walk in.

    1. Oh, I miss drive-ins! They disappeared from the landscape here, one by one; when I first arrived to this county in the seventies, they were everywhere.

      Now I feel nostalgic!

Thanks for stopping by, Vicki, and enjoy your week.

  4. I haven’t seen the movie, I’m sorry!
I think you’re right that it’s good to get out of the house sometime during the week…if you can. I am at home a lot and don’t always get out every week but I have learned that only reading and sitting in front of the computer makes me tired and down and feeling a little funky by the end of the week. I’ve learned to do something different whether it’s writing while listening to music or going out on th back deck for 20 minutes…this is especially important when reading books like the Haven Kimmel book!

I hope you get to yoga today and/or see a good movie and have a nice Sunday.
Laurel, have a better week this week! Take care!

    1. Reading on the back deck reminds me that I’ve enjoyed my patio reading in the past…but I need to clean the leaves off! The gardeners blow them into my patio every week. Those weed blowers are a disgrace…moving leaves from one spot to another. What kind of sense does that make?

Thanks for stopping by…and I ended up just staying home today and reading/watching movies. Enjoy your week, Amy.

  5. I wish I had more time for just reading and no other outside activities! However, as you know, I’ve been buys getting ready for a baby’s arrival this summer! I haven’t seen Extremely Loud Incredibly Close, but it definitely looks like something we’d pick up on Netflix!

This week, I plan on a bit more reading before my in-laws come to town for the weekend. Thanks for dropping by my blog yesterday, and I hope you have a great week!

    1. I don’t know what my excuse is, but I have found it hard to focus on my reading and writing. Even the movie watching has to wait….I have a stack of DVDs on my coffee table to watch. Fortunately, I’ve seen them all before, but something will remind me of one or the other and I’ll grab it from the shelf.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting, Jeremy.
