WEEKLY UPDATES: READING, BLOGGING, & HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDDAUGHTERS…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Another great reading week!  A total of four books read and reviewed, with two of them NetGalley review books.  Now I have eight more NetGalley books to be released between March 20 and May 15.  They are spread out nicely, with two more March books; three in April; and three in May.

I’m not a fan of the Olympics, and with several shows on hiatus, I’ve had more time to read.

My two granddaughters are turning 21 this month.  The amazing “twin” cousins.

I’ve been sticking closer to home, although I did enjoy a couple of dinners out.  Let’s sip some coffee and see what else has been happening around here.

Happy birthday to your granddaughters, and yay for a good reading week! 4 books is awesome. I like the Olympics although more the summer games than winter- and between NBC’s coverage I find it hard to watch.

I saw Look For Me at Barnes and Noble yesterday and it looked pretty good.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks, Greg, and I guess I will never enjoy televised sports. In fact, the only games I even like to watch in person are basketball games and tennis, since I have played those sports.

I hope you have a great week, and thanks for visiting.

    1. Thanks, Evelina, and it was delicious…but I should have brought half of it home! Since I was going to shop afterwards, I didn’t want to leave it in the car, with that cream cheese frosting…LOL.

Actually, I wanted it with ice cream…and that would have melted for sure.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Cai, it was fascinating to me how these girls were born days apart, especially since their older brothers were also born days apart two years earlier!

I told myself the cake was to celebrate the girls’ birthdays…in absentia.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting.

    1. Thanks, Sarah, it was delightful when they were babies…and then watching them grow, and seeing how different they were, while still being connected to each other. Their brothers were also born days apart, two years earlier. How weird is that? lol

I am already enjoying this week’s books. Have a great week!

      1. How lovely they are so very close in age:). My two littlies don’t have anyone of the same age in our family and are so spread out, anyway – it’s a shame as they are growing apart as they get older.

Four books read and reviewed, wow! Nice reading week. And I read & enjoyed Two Girls Down and Look for Me, and look forward to the Flight Attendant because I enjoy most of Bohjalian’s books!
And Kellerman, another good author for me. Hope your week ahead is as bookishly wonderful!

    1. Thanks, Kari, I loved The Flight Attendant…and I’m enjoying Look for Me, too. I love Kellerman, and have another of his books waiting to be read. I’m so behind on books I bought last year.

      Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Deb, I’ve had two four-book-weeks in a row, so I’m guessing it was a fluke and I’ll return to the three-books norm. Which is okay with me…but sometimes being unable to put a book down leads to more books read.

      Have a great week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Nai, and I think Mrs. has such an interesting cover. The girls are delightful to spend time with, but they are also busier these days.

Enjoy your books, too…and the cake was to celebrate the girls’ birthdays…in their absence.

    1. I am intrigued by An American Marriage…I saw a review in O, and realized it was her book club pick.

It is cozy to stay indoors, although I occasionally just have to get out and have lunch or dinner somewhere.

Thanks for visiting, Danielle, and enjoy your week.

I would love to get my hands on Look for Me. I also have Night Moves but haven’t had the chance to read it yet. I am hoping that I get to it in the next few weeks. Thanks for stopping over at my #SundayRoundup! I hope you have a great week or reading!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Maureen, and I do love the weeks with lots of books read. I still have a lot of books purchased last year that are unread. The bright spot: I should never have a time without any books to read. I also love having a few NetGalley books to read.

      Enjoy your week!

Their 21st birthday! That’s special and I hope they had a wonderful celebration. I’m waiting on new seasons to star for some show I plan to contiue with. And I noticed I hardly turn on the telly on weekends and spend most of it reading. Now to write all of those reviews! LOL

    1. Thanks for visiting, Laura, and I love that the girls are enjoying turning 21. Aubrey’s birthday was on the 13th, and Fiona’s will be the 21st.

I do get more reading done when my favorite shows are on hiatus…and when I’m not in the middle of an addictive Netflix series.

      Have a great week!

  5. Yeah I’m eager to get to An American Marriage. Looks good. But that cake & ice cream looks even better! Yum. Have a great week. I’ve been watching enough of the Olympics for the two of us. 🙂

I have the High Tide Club to review too. It looks so good. I meant to read more while the TV shows were on hiatus but it didn’t work for me. I like how organized your NetGalley books are. I wish I could do that with mine. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Yvonne, and my organized review shelves have a lot to do with being retired…LOL.

I still have a lot of purchased books to read, especially from last year, even though I read 121 of those books purchased between August 2016 and December 2017.

      Enjoy your week!

  7. Oh – that cake and ice cream looks yummy. We’ve been trying to lose wait so staying away from such treats. We haven’t been watching much Olympics either. Hubby watches old time movies if we don’t find anything else of interest.
Glad you enjoyed your reading and I hope you like this week’s books too. Happy Reading!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Martha, and I would almost watch anything other than a sports event…LOL. We had a Cinemax weekend (free access comes along occasionally), and I recorded a few of the movies. But they don’t have enough that I want to persuade me subscribe to it. I prefer HBO, which I have.

I do love the retro movies, too. Enjoy your week!

  8. I’m not an Olympics fan either – I thought I was the only one – but I haven’t managed to find more reading time. Happy birthday to the twin cousins! 🙂 I’ve got to grab a copy of An American Marriage – I’m kind of hoping my book club will read it.

    1. Thanks, Kathy, and I do hope to enjoy An American Marriage. Even though I’m searching for a book club, I recall that sometimes the book choices are not to my liking. But I guess book clubs pick one book a month to read? It’s been a long time since I belonged to one.

      Have a great week!

  9. Believe it or not, I have never eaten red velvet cake. 🙂 Looks delish…I am sure you enjoyed it.

That is cute about the cousin twins. We have cousin triplets – not the same day, but the same year. One is in February, and the other two are in April. 🙂

I hope we both enjoy THE HIGH TIDE CLUB…I have never read a book by Ms. Andrews so I am looking forward to reading the book.

    Have a wonderful week, Laurel.

  10. That red velvet cake looks to die for. I want some. Glad you got a lot of reading done. I on the other hand, do like the Olympics so my reading was way down over the last couple of weeks, now I am playing catch up. Have a wonderful week, Laurel.
