Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
Another month is almost half gone, and what do we have to show for it? Well, there has been some reading…and some movie watching. I read and reviewed three books, and one of them was a chunkster (600+ pages). That book inspired some movie watching, as it was a biography of Jane Fonda. I downloaded some of her old movies through Amazon Prime (Klute, Sunday in New York, and Barefoot in the Park), and brought some others to my bedroom, and they are waiting on this little table (below).
Speaking of Jane Fonda, Season 4 of Grace and Frankie is coming to Netflix on January 19. Yay! I love that show so much that I tend to binge-watch the whole new season in one day…which then means I’m waiting a while for what comes next. Sigh.
Disjointed just released Season 2…and I saw Kathy Bates on The Talk yesterday.
For most of the week, I stayed home—trying to keep my eating out to a minimum—plus, the weather was in the 60s, with some rainy days. On those kinds of days, I like to curl up on one of my sofas and read or watch movies.
Let’s grab some coffee and take a closer look at the week:

That was my week…what did yours look like? I didn’t go out to eat this week, so I’m sharing a photo of my soup and margarita from a couple of weeks ago. I’m thinking of having it later today or tomorrow.

Other People’s Houses is on my wish list. I loved the author’s first novel. Have a nice weekend, Laurel. I’d take your 60s in exchange for my (at the moment) single digits. We’re supposed to warm up a bit by next weekend. Fingers crossed 🙂

Thanks, Mary, I thought that author’s name sounded familiar! I haven’t read The Garden of Small Beginnings, but I’ve been eyeing it. I just now bookmarked it on Amazon so I can get it at some point.
Enjoy your week, and I’m sorry it’s so cold where you are. For some reason, the 60s are feeling especially cold to me this week…while last week, the temps felt balmy. But I guess it was 66 last week…lol.

Thanks for visiting, Greg, and yes, 60s are not that bad. Especially if you stay indoors…LOL.
I am also loving The Woman in the Window, although right now I’m watching an Amazon Prime movie called Rebel in the Rye (about J. D. Salinger). Kevin Spacey plays his writing instructor.
The soup was very good!

It sounds like your month has gotten off to a great start, Laurel-Rain. I feel like I’ve already read a month’s worth of books already. I know it won’t last. I’ll probably slow down now that the year is underway. I hope you are enjoying The Woman in the Window. I finished it last night. I hope you have a great week, Laurel-Rain! It’s probably too much to ask for more rain, isn’t it? I’m happy to see snow on the distant mountain tops again. Take care!

Staying indoors while it’s cold sounds like a good idea to me 🙂 I love winter for that reason to be honest, no excuse needed to not go outside haha it’s summer here at the moment, it’s been humid and we’re in for some storms over the next few days (which is good, we need the rain!)
It sounds like you had a productive week! I hope you enjoy your new reads, and the movies you have waiting for you.

Hi Lorraine,
I know what you mean about the time passing by so quickly. No sooner is Christmas over and the children gone back to school, than the Easter eggs have begun to appear on the supermarket shelves and the mum’s are talking about February half-term school holidays!
You have a great selection of thrillers on offer this week, all by new to me authors. I would like to add them all to my own ‘Want To Read’ shelf, but it is already groaning under the weight of books.
From the potted highlights of US news that we are drip fed, here in the UK, nothing on earth would persuade me to read ‘Fire and Fury’, unless I had first been locked in a padded cell. If you survive the ordeal, I’ll catch up with you later and have a great reading week 🙂
