WEEKLY UPDATES: BOOKS, MOVIES, & CHRISTMAS ANTICIPATION…

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

I am up very early to write this post, since I have a busy morning:  a hair appointment, the movies (hopefully); and shopping.  I wanted to get a head start, and also needed to write a review.  Now I’m done with that and can report that I’ve read and reviewed three books this week.  Yeah, not as good as last week, but that’s okay.  My Challenge Total:  111 of my own books read this year so far.

This week I finished the second season of Wanted, an Australian show, and now it’s a waiting period until the next one comes.  But on December 8, Season II of The Crown is coming!

As we wind down to Christmas, we are all sure to be very busy.  So…let’s grab a beverage (coffee for me!) and reflect on the past week.

I hope you are enjoying your day, Laurel-Rain! I got my hair done yesterday finally. I was trying to put it off until closer to Christmas, but I couldn’t wait any longer. What movie did you end up seeing? A Hundred Small Lessons and Snap Judgement both look good! I hope you enjoy them and your current reads.

    Have a great weekend, Laurel-Rain!

    1. Thanks, Wendy, I haven’t seen anything yet, but hope to see Lady Bird today…and will see Billboard on Monday.

I just finished reading Moral Defense this week, and Snap Judgment was on my list…but then there was a great deal on it, so I went for it! Have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Barb…I have three table top trees, but only brought out two this year.

I am excited about The Wife Between Us…and I saw Lady Bird, which was a movie I loved. It was set in Sacramento, CA, where I graduated university…and lived for most of the 60s. All three of my sons were born there.

      Enjoy your week!

Yum! Nice treat. 🙂 And 3 books is great. My reading has been SO down the last few weeks, I’m hardly reading anything. Not even a slump as much as I just don’t feel like reading right now lol. Maybe it’s the holidays…

Anyway The Wife Between Us is definitely one I have my eye one, depending on how reviews shake out.

Hope your weekend is nice and relaxing. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Greg, I am looking forward to The Wife Between Us. I have been doing great at the beginning of the week, but by midweek it is hard to pick a next read.

I think the holidays and the stress of the year’s end is responsible. Hopefully we will all have a better week. Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Thanks, Maureen, everything about my day went so smoothly. I went from my hair appointment to lunch and then saw Lady Bird, which I loved. The movie was set in Sacramento, CA, where I lived during university days…and I loved it there!

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting.

  3. It sounds like you’ve had a good week. We are not yet fully organised for Christmas, but I’m hoping to get there this coming week. I love the pic featuring that scrummy dessert:) I hope the coming week is a good one, Laurel.

You’ve definitely been busy. It does seem like we all get super busy this time of year. I read A Bella Flora Christmas. It was good, but I really need to read this series from the beginning to enjoy it.

I hope you like The Wife Between Us. I’m enjoying it. I just need more reading time.

    Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, I loved A Bella Flora Christmas and I’m intrigued by The Wife Between Us so far. After reading a while today, I took a nap, though, and I guess I needed it. It was a long one.

      Enjoy your week!

  5. I don’t think I’ve read even ONE book last week! I was sick, and yet I still worked. As you can imagine, not much energy for reading :/ oh well. Also, I had to quit drinking coffee, because health problems. I generally think life kind of sucks right now 😀 I bet you can see why (did I mention I’m on a severe diet for health.)
So anyway, that’s my week 😀 and I am soooo jealous of that pie there 😀

Anyway, hope you have a great week 🙂

    1. Oh, I am sorry you are not feeling well, Evelina; and having to be on a special diet would definitely curtail your enjoyment.

I just took a really long nap, so I’ve piddled away most of the day. Hope the new week is better for you.

    1. Thanks, Kathy, I am loving The Wife Between Us. Today we were supposed to see Billboards…but my friend cancelled due to some unexpected medical appointments. She has lots of medical issues, so I guess we’ll catch it later. Sigh.

I hadn’t heard that about TWBU being made into a movie. That’s great to know. Enjoy your week.

  6. Oooh! Sounds like an excellent way to spend a day 😉 I hope you enjoyed your hair appointment and that you got to do movies and shopping!

Your coffee table Christmas tree is adorable! Love it !I’m sitting here sipping on a coconut latte while I type, so I think I’m sufficiently caffeinated!

Hope you have a great week this week and that you enjoy your reads.

    1. Ooh, I love anything with coconut in it! I did get to the hair appointment, lunch out, and the movies. I loved the movie Ladybird, which was set in Sacramento, my favorite California city in which to live. I lived there years ago. Missing it!

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting, Di.

    1. Thanks, Kris, and I thoroughly enjoyed the day, from the hair appointment, to lunch, and to the movie Ladybird. I am now loving The Wife Between Us…the Christmas book was a novella, so it was quick. A tease for the novel coming out in May.

      Enjoy your week!

  8. I really want to watch The Crown. I’ve heard it’s fantastic! The Wife Between Us and Bella Flora Christmas are both on my TBR though I’ve heard it’s better to read the whole series before the Christmas novella. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Katherine, and I do recommend reading at least some of the Ten Beach Road series first. The earlier books give great history on what the women are doing and why.

I am very excited about The Crown…and I just finished The Wife Between Us…review is here, on this blog.

    1. Ha-ha….I am at a crazy stage with my hair, too, Erin; having more done tomorrow. I’m allergic to most of the hair dyes now, a sudden reaction, so I was going to let it go grey…but the colors are not even. So my daughter will foil in some highlights to help the transition.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting. I love The Crown!

  10. The Cue Card

What movie did you see? I still want to see Lady Bird and the new Frances McDormand one. I haven’t gotten to the movies lately. The time is going fast now in the holiday month. Hope you have a great week!

    1. I saw (and loved!) Lady Bird, set in Sacramento…my old stomping grounds. I miss that place!

I was going to see the new Frances McDormand one yesterday, but my friend cancelled due to medical issues.

I will probably see it on my own…but not until the weekend, I’m thinking. Enjoy your week, too, Susan, and all I want for Christmas is…well, for you-know-who to go away!
