Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
What a great week! Errands, shopping, Thanksgiving dinner, movies, books. Four books read and reviewed, bringing my Challenge total to 108.
On Netflix, I watched Season 6 of Longmire, all the way through…and then I started Season II of Wanted. Today I’m watching old movies on my DVR, like Urban Cowboy. I do love the music! I used to have an album…yes, vinyl. One of my kids took all the albums when I downsized ten years ago.
Saturday noon: a get-together with assorted local family members joining in a celebration with my LA son and his youngest son. Everyone else is spread out throughout the state…and two are in Prague. Here is a peek at the group:
So…before we take a closer look at the week, grab another cup of coffee with me:

Nice family pic! And happy Thanksgiving- hope you had a great one! Glad you were able to get together with family.
Urban Cowboy is awesome, love that one. 🙂
The Wife Between Us and A season To Lie both look good.
Mmmm pie. and wine. 🙂

Thanks, Greg. We had two Thanksgiving events, the one with turkey and stuffing (yum!), and today’s: burgers and drinks!
I am loving the Urban Cowboy music.
Have a great week!

uch a fun week for you and so many great books. I binged the whole season of Longmire too. Still not sure what I think about the ending.

Oh, I know! It was ambiguous enough that I could interpret it as a “happy” one, but I’m not happy about leaving these characters…sigh. Thanks for visiting, Laura, and I guess I could watch the whole thing over again some time. LOL
Have a great week!

Thanks, Trish, and after I had read a couple of chapters of Room, I started to get tired of the language…I know, it’s a good book, and I loved the movie, but I found it hard to follow Jack’s words. Sigh. So I set it aside for a while…for a fast-paced mystery thriller.
Enjoy your week!

Ooh, Room has been on my (non-owned) TBR for a long time too. But I haven’t got around to borrowing it from the library. I’ll admit I’m also a little scared to read it, cause I think it might make me very sad. Children getting hurt, you know.
Anyway, I hope you have a great week!

Thanks, Evelina, I had to set Room aside after just a few pages, despite knowing how it is a wonderful story. The language was hard for me to follow. Because the child narrator has his own words for everything, it was like interpreting another language.
I will read it later. Right now, it’s back to thrillers. Enjoy your week!

Oh, I didn’t know that about that book! Actually, that’s pretty interesting. NOW you’ve got me intrigued.

What a lovely photo of your family – they are a bonny-looking lot, you must be very proud. I loved reading Room, but I’m intrigued how the audio book works, given the narrator is a five year old. I look forward to hearing how you get on with it. Have a great week, Laurel:) My Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/11/26/sunday-post-26th-november-2017/

I don’t have an audio book version, Sarah; maybe that would have been easier. The child narrator’s “language” was tedious to read and interpret…for me. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood.
My family time was wonderful. That very tall one on the right side makes everyone else look short, but they’re not (well, except Julia, on the far right); he is 6’6″.
Enjoy your week!

I must have misread it. Sorry you didn’t enjoy this one – I think it is something of a Marmite read. Glad you had a lovely family time:)

I agree, Deb…I had a very warm feeling the rest of the day, and then we texted each other and shared our photos. The food was good, too. That mall where we went is a relatively new one by the university and the Save Mart Center, the venue for concerts, etc., so it was a nice change for me from my usual neighborhood places.
Enjoy your week!

It was a wonderful week, Barb, and now I am in the mood for Christmas, but I’m procrastinating with the decorations, since I would have to haul in the bins. Sigh. I could use one of those tall grandsons about now, but they’re all off doing whatever they do…and they don’t live near here. LOL.
I loved how Season 6 of Longmire tied up some loose ends…since it’s the final season. That part makes me sad.
Enjoy your week!

Thanks, Jenea, and I don’t think I ever get my fill of pumpkin pie, so I order it every time I go to my neighborhood Marie Callender’s restaurant. LOL.
I was happy that nobody in the family pic made faces, like they once did. I guess because they are maturing, they now actually cooperate.

I was very disappointed that pumpkin pie was NOT on our Thanksgiving table. But, they did have it at work the Wed before (but no whipped cream, it was kind of a crime). It’s so nice you got to spend time with friends and family, and wow! Urban Cowboy, that’s a blast from the past.

Thanks, Sam, I happily discovered Urban Cowboy on Cinemax this week, when they were having a freebie on some channels. I do have the DVD, but I’m too lazy to put it in the player…LOL.
I love the music. I used to have the vinyl album.
I can’t get enough of pumpkin pie, so I eat it throughout the year, from Marie Callender’s in my neighborhood.

Thanks, AJ, I set it aside for a while. The pace was slow and tedious for me, and trying to “interpret” the boy’s language didn’t help. But I loved the movie, so I’ll probably return to it.

I think Room is the first audiobook I ever listened to. I downloaded it when my husband was in surgery years ago. Made time in the waiting room pass quickly. I hope you like it and have a nice week. Loved the pic of your family!

Since I don’t have the audiobook version, I wonder if it will be less enjoyable for me, although I never listen to audiobooks. I did love the movie, so I might find it more enjoyable if I have a little patience with the boy’s “language.”
Thanks for visiting, Mary, and waiting on surgery is a time one needs a good book. I’m glad it worked for you.

Some shows draw me in and capture me for the duration, while I’m happy to watch just a few episodes at a time with others. Longmire’s Season 6 captured me.
I also felt that way about Mad Men, sometimes staying up half the night to watch.
Thanks for visiting, Nise, and I hope you can watch without dreaming about the show. Enjoy the week.

It’s good to follow your mood for reading and especially when not weighted down by review ones and you can just read. I started using my DVR this week again and let’s say it was suffering from disuse but got it working eventually!

Thanks, Kathryn, and I love the DVR and use it regularly. It is great to have a lot of movies and shows available for down time.
As for reading, I’m glad that I could follow my mood right now…but sadly, after only a few pages of Room, I moved on. I loved the movie, and I may return to the book, but…well, now I am rapidly reading a mystery from Marcia Clark.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting.

The number 108 is how many I’ve read for the Challenge…I’ve read a few more overall: 159 so far.
Thanks for visiting, Elizabeth, and I set Room aside. I was having trouble with the child narrator’s language. I also don’t like the fact that he is the only narrator in the book. But I loved the movie, so I will probably return to it.

I’m glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. I have been trying to buy fewer books and read books already on my shelves. My Kindle is mostly being used for review books lately. I;m nearing 250 books for the year and should blow past that goal in a couple of weeks. Come see my week here. Have a great week!

I think I’ve bought fewer books this month, but probably still too many. My Challenge helps me whittle away at my TBR.
My total books read this year is 159 so far, which includes review books and books from previous years. There will be a few more in the next couple of days, and then in December.
Thanks for visiting, Kathy, and have a great week.

Thanks, JoAnn, and I loved the film version of Room. So far the book (an e-book, not audio) is less enjoyable, primarily because of the child’s “language.” Slow going.
I might return to it, but I needed to switch to one of my murder mysteries for a fast-paced read. Enjoy your week.
