WEEKLY UPDATES: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WEEK?

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Another weekend already!  The week flew by, and I cannot tell you much of what happened…except that I read and reviewed FOUR BOOKS, bringing my Challenge total to 94…and wrote ELEVEN blog posts.  What was I thinking?  On Friday, we had a little rain.  Just enough to turn the fallen leaves soggy…and perhaps to clear some of the dust from the air.  Hopefully the rain that came to Northern California late this week will help contain the wildfires, but it feels like “too little too late.”

As for TV viewing, it was great to have the Thursday lineup back...and I tried the Dynasty reboot on Wednesdays…but quickly dismissed it, deleting it from my DVR schedule.  It is nothing like the first series, except for some of the names of the characters.  If they are going to “pretend” that a show is a reboot, they really should create something that bears a slight resemblance to the original.  ‘Nuff said.

Let’s talk about the week, and in the photo (below), I’ll share my nod to the upcoming Halloween season:

  1. Too bad about the Dynasty reboot fail. The cheesecake looks yummy though. Enjoy your new books. I wish the weeks would slow a bit. I can’t believe we’re almost a month out from Thanksgiving!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Mary, and I had high hopes that the reboot would resemble the original, like the Dallas reboot did.

I definitely consoled myself with that cheesecake, though. LOL

Having pumpkin pie in restaurants does seem to remind us of the proximity of that holiday, which is one of my favorites.

  2. Cold As Ice looks good. I look forward to your thoughts on Seven Days of Us. I caught up on my DVR shows tonight. Supernatural and The Exorcist ….which I am freakin’ loving. So creepy.
Yay for all that reading. I hope the week ahead is another good one!

    1. I am really looking forward to Cold As Ice…I’ve loved all the previous books. Seven Days of Us was one I was on the fence about…but then some of the raves from other bloggers turned the tide for me.

I love catching up on my DVR watching. I set mine for more shows for tomorrow…like the new Hallmark Mysteries Darrow & Darrow.

I’m also going to record Watcher in the Woods remake with Angelica Huston. I’m not sure about it, but I’m going to give it a try. Thanks for visiting, Kimberly.

      Enjoy your week!

  3. Dynasty reboot? Wow. Dynasty was really big where I live when I was little kid. I feel like no reboot could do that 🙂 then again. 80’s glam is really hard to recreate! The 21st century is REALLY not about that, is it. Wouldn’t go down, I feel. So I’m not surprised it wasn’t very good 🙂

    1. Thanks, Evelina, the Dallas reboot worked, though, despite the change in eras…but I guess the networks didn’t agree, as they took it off after two (or three?) seasons.

But with Dynasty, they weren’t true to the original characters AT ALL. LOL I seem to take it very seriously.

      Enjoy your week!

  4. Sounds like you had a great reading week.
I never watched the original Dynasty. I was more of a Dallas fan. So, I didn’t try the Dynasty reboot.

The Wife Between Us and Cold As Ice are both on my TBR. They book look great. I love the Julie Mulhern series, although I’m a couple of books behind.

Hope you have a great week. My Sunday post is here.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Yvonne, and I agree that Dallas was better, more to my liking. I used to curl up on Friday nights with a snack and lose myself in it. I liked the reboot, but they took it off after only two (or three?) seasons.

Enjoy your reading. I love the Mulhern series.

    1. Thanks, Katherine, I should have known Dynasty would be an epic fail. It had none of the original characters (which Dallas had in its reboot), and they changed them up so they were not even recognizable.

Sometimes I think it’s best to leave the past where it belongs.

I am excited about Cold As Ice. Enjoy your week!

  5. That’s a bummer about the Dynasty reboot. I read The Bourbon Kings series by J.R. Ward that had a Dynasty sort of feel to it, and it was really good if you’re looking for something similar. Not a TV series, though.

You got a lot of books and blogging done! I love suspense so I’ll have to check out Odd Child Out.

  6. Oh my gosh that dessert looks amazing, I really need to go around and find all the pumpkin desserts! And you’re killing it with the reading and reviewing, I really need to get on top of reviewing books straight after finishing them! I hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks! It was beyond my usual style. And it’s so true, Anne, that something has to give…what seems to have gone by the wayside for me is housekeeping…LOL. I do the basics, but nothing deeper. I dreamed about cleaning last night! Sad.

Enjoy your Cybils, and thanks for visiting.

  7. It’s a great time of the year for pumpkin pie! Too bad about the Dynasty show. I remember that along with the show Dallas — they were quite fun TV melodramas for their era, LOL. Everyone watched them. Remember JR and Sue Ellen? Those were the days! I’m in Southern Cal this week visiting my family and it’s expected to hit 100 degrees ouch! Luckily we are at the beach so I’ll stick my big toe in the water. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, and I still miss Dallas, more than the old Dynasty show. I loved that reboot…but it lasted for such a short time. My favorites were JR and Sue Ellen, and also Bobby Ewing.

Enjoy your time at the beach, Susan, and have a great week!

  9. We had quite a few rainy days, especially Saturday, it poured rain, almost two inches in one day. Now the sun is out and we are supposed to have a gorgeous sunny week ahead, I can’t wait. I am currently listening to Seven Days of Us, it is lots of family drama, not sure what to think yet.

    1. Thanks, Kei, I didn’t see the trailer…but I didn’t like the first two episodes. I actually enjoyed the original, but maybe it wouldn’t play in the 21st C, even if they made the characters true to the original. Enjoy your week!

  10. I truly thought I’d been and commented here! Whoops! I guess I had it open, commented in my head and then… nothing!

Anyways, FOUR BOOKS and ELEVEN blog posts? That’s huge! Well done!

I hope you’re having a great week this week and that you thoroughly enjoyed that pumpkin cheesecake dessert!!! It looked AMAZING!
