Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
Another hot week! The occasional dip to the 90s never lasted long enough to offer much relief, so the heat goes on. I did more blogging than usual, but my reading has suffered.
Only two books read and reviewed, although I’m halfway finished with two other books. I finished a THIRD book. I continue to read bits and pieces of another book. So perhaps I will have more to add by the end of the weekend. My total for the Read the Books You Buy Challenge = 75.If you are here reading this post, you have found my new venue for Weekly Updates. I like to change things up now and then.
On Netflix, I started a new show called Deep Water, an Australian series that seems promising. On TV, I’m following the mini-series called The Sinner. I also watched the A & E production, in two parts, of The Murder of Lacy Peterson. Since it all took place in the Central Valley, just two hours from where I live, I remember well the ripple effects. Amber Frey, who played a large role in events, including the trial, lived in Fresno…the city I call home these days.
Let’s grab some coffee and talk about our weeks.

I’m curious about Young Jane Young so I’ll watch for your review. Have a lovely weekend!

I was curious about Deep Water! I have a few shows on Netflix that I kinda want to try, but just haven’t, and that’s one. Maybe I’ll try it next. I did watch What Happened to Monday, which is a Netflix original movie, it was pretty good sci fi movie.
The Good Daughter looks like a tense read. I’ve been enjoying those lately… 🙂 and yay for The Lying Game.
Mnn soup… can’t go wrong.

Thanks for stopping by, Greg, and I enjoyed Deep Water. I like most Australian shows (or English); especially if they are crime fiction.
I am curious about What Happened to Monday, and it is in my queue.
The Good Daughter is one I must read this week…I will not be daunted by the 528 pages! LOL.
Loved The Lying Game.
Enjoy your week.

Maybe she’ll give us something more…surprise us.

Nice margarita. Yeah who can forget the Lacey Peterson story — it was all so sad and shocking. Good grief, chilling too. Amber didn’t vouch for him, right? On the flip side, I hope the Gabby Zevin book might be fun. It seems you had a good week with the Seven Husbands read. Cheers.

Thanks for visiting, Susan, and I love those margaritas!
As for Amber Frey, she cooperated completely with the police, recording phone calls, etc., and then her testimony made all the difference…since there really wasn’t a lot of physical evidence.
The new documentary brought out the voices of some who felt the police didn’t dig deep enough. That Scott was convicted mostly because of his attitude and behavior. I can’t believe it’s been 15 years! I guess people can be on death row forever.
I love the look and sound of Young Jane Young. Enjoy your week!

Thanks for stopping by, Kimberly, and at least I don’t have 20 blogs…or eleven, which I once did!
Six is a nice comfy number for me, and I alternate between them for posts.
I am very excited for the new Grafton book…and now I am a little sad that there will be only one more in the alphabet series. But maybe she’ll start a different series, or write stand-alone books.

I remember the Lacy Peterson case. It was one of the first national cases I was old enough to keep up with. I remember reading one of the jurors kept meticulous notes – 17 spiral notebooks full that he brought when they deliberated.

I’ve had a hard time finding good shows, too, Melinda….which is frustrating. Every time I set up the Blu-Ray to watch, I remind myself that next time I get a TV, I’ll get one with all the features added into it…Smart TV, I guess. Sometimes it takes a bit of finagling to connect to the Internet on the device, but I don’t want to have to do the Laptop/HDMI cable version, which I did before I got the Blu-Ray.
And then I go through my queue of shows and end up starting a variety of things that I soon stop watching, because they are so weird or awful. Like a show with Drew Barrymore that has her vomiting endlessly…Uh, no! LOL
Enjoy your week, and thanks for stopping by!

I’m so over the heat. I’m in FL and the summers are brutal. I think I become less and less tolerant the older I get. I remember the Peterson case well. I saw a few ads for the A&E show but I don’t watch a lot of TV and rarely make a point to actually sit down and watch anything. I haven’t read anything by Sue Grafton in many years. I think the last one was maybe the one for “L.” It made me chuckle to see that she’s on “Y” now. What in the world is she going to do after the Z book? 🙂 Your soup and margarita looks so delish!
