WEEKLY UPDATES: AUGUST IS WINDING DOWN….

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Another hot week!  The occasional dip to the 90s never lasted long enough to offer much relief, so the heat goes on.  I did more blogging than usual, but my reading has suffered.  Only two books read and reviewed, although I’m halfway finished with two other books I finished a THIRD book.  I continue to read bits and pieces of another book.  So perhaps I will have more to add by the end of the weekend.  My total for the Read the Books You Buy Challenge = 75.

If you are here reading this post, you have found my new venue for Weekly Updates.  I like to change things up now and then.

On  Netflix, I started a new show called Deep Water, an Australian series that seems promising.  On TV, I’m following the mini-series called The Sinner.  I also watched the A & E production, in two parts, of The Murder of Lacy Peterson.  Since it all took place in the Central Valley, just two hours from where I live, I remember well the ripple effects.  Amber Frey, who played a large role in events, including the trial, lived in Fresno…the city I call home these days.

Let’s grab some coffee and talk about our weeks.

I was curious about Deep Water! I have a few shows on Netflix that I kinda want to try, but just haven’t, and that’s one. Maybe I’ll try it next. I did watch What Happened to Monday, which is a Netflix original movie, it was pretty good sci fi movie.

The Good Daughter looks like a tense read. I’ve been enjoying those lately… 🙂 and yay for The Lying Game.

    Mnn soup… can’t go wrong.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Greg, and I enjoyed Deep Water. I like most Australian shows (or English); especially if they are crime fiction.

I am curious about What Happened to Monday, and it is in my queue.

The Good Daughter is one I must read this week…I will not be daunted by the 528 pages! LOL.

      Loved The Lying Game.

      Enjoy your week.

  2. Nice margarita. Yeah who can forget the Lacey Peterson story — it was all so sad and shocking. Good grief, chilling too. Amber didn’t vouch for him, right? On the flip side, I hope the Gabby Zevin book might be fun. It seems you had a good week with the Seven Husbands read. Cheers.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Susan, and I love those margaritas!

As for Amber Frey, she cooperated completely with the police, recording phone calls, etc., and then her testimony made all the difference…since there really wasn’t a lot of physical evidence.

The new documentary brought out the voices of some who felt the police didn’t dig deep enough. That Scott was convicted mostly because of his attitude and behavior. I can’t believe it’s been 15 years! I guess people can be on death row forever.

I love the look and sound of Young Jane Young. Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Kimberly, and at least I don’t have 20 blogs…or eleven, which I once did!

Six is a nice comfy number for me, and I alternate between them for posts.

I am very excited for the new Grafton book…and now I am a little sad that there will be only one more in the alphabet series. But maybe she’ll start a different series, or write stand-alone books.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Trish, and I only recently started reading Slaughter again…and I’m very glad.

Deep Water is not the best show I’ve seen lately, but it was one to watch in between waiting for new seasons for favorites…LOL

    1. Thanks, Sarah, and I’m glad. I hope you enjoy it. I am thinking that after Y comes Z and it will be over. Sigh.

What will I do without Kinsey Millhone? I could start over from the beginning, I guess.

      Enjoy your week!

  3. Wait. You changed your blog AGAIN? Or am I hallucinating? I love the colors! Soooo bright and beautiful. Do I see a different name too? Or is this one of your other blogs, cause I think I recall you mentioning you had several?
Anyway 🙂 have a great week!

    1. Yes, this is a different blog…and I did change it since the last time you were here…probably. I change things up a lot.

At Rainy Days and Mondays, I posted about now doing my updates at this one. I like to give them each a chance to shine. Thanks for visiting, Evelina, and enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Stacy Renee, and I am a big fan of soups. I can’t get enough of them.

I hope you have a great week and find a good series to watch. Deep Water was pretty good, but short. (Four episodes).

    1. Thanks, Erin, with this theme (Hemingway Rewritten), I find it is fun to create banners. The title in the middle, blocked in black, sort of pops.

I hope you find a show you enjoy…Deep Water might work for nap time, as there are only four episodes.

  4. I’m so behind on the Karen Slaughter books. I love her and really need to catch up on her books soon.
I hope the weather will get a little colder. We could use some of the warmth here. It hasn’t been much of a summer here really.
    Have a great week! ;_

  5. I had no idea you had another blog! What are the others?

I remember the Lacy Peterson case. It was one of the first national cases I was old enough to keep up with. I remember reading one of the jurors kept meticulous notes – 17 spiral notebooks full that he brought when they deliberated.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Charlie, and it was so surreal to have this case unfolding so close to where I lived, with the main witness for the prosecution living in my same city.

My other blogs: An Interior Journey, Potpourri, Curl up and Read, Snow Sparks, Serendipity, and Rainy Days and Mondays…

Wow, 17 notebooks! I hadn’t heard that part.

It’s been hot here too. I can’t wait for winter! I remember the Lacy Peterson murder. I just had my daughter so I could just imagine how frightened she was for herself and her unborn son. I can’t believe he is still on death row. I need to watch The Sinner. I hope you have a great week!

I have heard some great things about The Good Daughter and hope to read it myself. Young Jane Young seems to be getting some great buzz as well. Have a great week!

    1. I’ve had a hard time finding good shows, too, Melinda….which is frustrating. Every time I set up the Blu-Ray to watch, I remind myself that next time I get a TV, I’ll get one with all the features added into it…Smart TV, I guess. Sometimes it takes a bit of finagling to connect to the Internet on the device, but I don’t want to have to do the Laptop/HDMI cable version, which I did before I got the Blu-Ray.

And then I go through my queue of shows and end up starting a variety of things that I soon stop watching, because they are so weird or awful. Like a show with Drew Barrymore that has her vomiting endlessly…Uh, no! LOL

Enjoy your week, and thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks, Laura, and I am trying to whittle down my TBR on a regular basis, but I keep ordering more books…as if I am afraid of running out of them. LOL

Enjoy your week, and I’m eager to read Zevin’s book, too.

  8. Sorry I’m visiting so late. The weekend really got away from me. I’ve been enjoying “Sinner” too but can’t quite figure the MC out. I’m an episode behind but will catch up before the next one. I ended up having a watermelon margarita last night while watching the season finale of Game of Thrones – quite tasty! Have a wonderful week and thanks for visiting The Farm.

  9. I’m so over the heat. I’m in FL and the summers are brutal. I think I become less and less tolerant the older I get. I remember the Peterson case well. I saw a few ads for the A&E show but I don’t watch a lot of TV and rarely make a point to actually sit down and watch anything. I haven’t read anything by Sue Grafton in many years. I think the last one was maybe the one for “L.” It made me chuckle to see that she’s on “Y” now. What in the world is she going to do after the Z book? 🙂 Your soup and margarita looks so delish!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Tanya, and I DVR many shows, and then when I have some downtime, I watch them. Some shows I end up erasing before I’m halfway through, however. Not that one, though.

I’ve been wondering about what comes after “Z” too! Enjoy your week.

I discovered Midnight Texas on television and caught up on all the episodes to date. I thought my TV was only for Food Network and baseball games. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Did you plan to buy “Y” books?
I love Pea Soup, especially the thick kind. 🙂

Love your header! Young Jane Young is a really interesting book. I’m actually doing a discussion post on it tomorrow (8/29). It will have spoilers, so you might want to hold off, but should check it out after you’ve read the book. There is MUCH to talk about!
