HUMP DAY READING: CURRENT, PAST, & FUTURE CHOICES

Today I’m participating in Sam’s WWW Wednesdays Here’s how it works:

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?

Currently Reading:

I picked up this book on the weekend, read a little bit, set it aside…and read some more.  I don’t know why I’m not fully engaging…but I think I might make more progress if I totally devoted myself to it, ignoring social media, TV, etc.  I even watched Netflix last night instead of reading.

So…another day to give it a whirl.  The book is from an author I’ve read and enjoyed for many years.  It’s Jacquelyn Mitchard’s Two If by Sea.

A story of a family lost in a tsunami in Brisbane, and Frank, a grieving man who saves a little boy, feels compelled to take him back to the states with him.  Something about the child seems to be determining his actions.  Does the child have unique gifts that are drawing him in?  And who are the sinister groups that seem to be searching for him?

Yeah…sounds good, doesn’t it?  So I think I simply must devote more time to reading it.  Today.

JUST FINISHED:

I seem to be reading a bit of nonfiction this month…even before I knew it was Nonfiction November.  I’m enjoying the detour from my usual choices.

I enjoyed this book…and it moved along quickly, since it had many fascinating details about the Kennedy family and Rosemary.

EAGERLY ANTICIPATING:

Behind Her Eyes, by Sarah Pinborough, is a book I’ve noticed on some blogs recently.  Not coming until January 31, however; so it will remain bookmarked on Amazon.

Louise is a single mom, a secretary, stuck in a modern-day rut. On a rare night out, she meets a man in a bar and sparks fly. Though he leaves after they kiss, she’s thrilled she finally connected with someone.

When Louise arrives at work on Monday, she meets her new boss, David. The man from the bar. The very married man from the bar…who says the kiss was a terrible mistake, but who still can’t keep his eyes off Louise.

And then Louise bumps into Adele, who’s new to town and in need of a friend. But she also just happens to be married to David. And if you think you know where this story is going, think again, because Behind Her Eyes is like no other book you’ve read before.

David and Adele look like the picture-perfect husband and wife. But then why is David so controlling? And why is Adele so scared of him?

As Louise is drawn into David and Adele’s orbit, she uncovers more puzzling questions than answers. The only thing that is crystal clear is that something in this marriage is very, very wrong. But Louise can’t guess how wrong—and how far a person might go to protect their marriage’s secrets.

In Behind Her Eyes, Sarah Pinborough has written a novel that takes the modern day love triangle and not only turns it on its head, but completely reinvents it in a way that will leave readers reeling.

Wow!  Right?  Now I am very eager to get my hands on this one.  What are you reading this week?
