HUMP DAY SERENDIPITY: CURRENT, PAST, & FUTURE READING

Today I’m participating in Sam’s WWW Wednesdays Here’s how it works:

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?

***

Currently Reading:

I am halfway finished with In Twenty Years, by Allison Winn Scotch, a story about friendships that have unraveled, deep secrets still hidden, and a last ditch effort to heal the wounds.

Twenty years ago, six Penn students shared a house, naively certain that their friendships would endure—until the death of their ringleader and dear friend Bea splintered the group for good. Now, mostly estranged from one another, the remaining five reluctantly gather at that same house on the eve of what would have been Bea’s fortieth birthday.

Just Finished:

I loved this book!  The sixth in a series featuring Frieda Klein, a London psychotherapist, Saturday Requiem (click for my review), by Nicci French, takes us on another adventure with our quirky MC.

In Saturday Requiem, the sixth novel in the series, Frieda has been asked to assess a young woman, Hannah Docherty, who has been held in Chelsworth Hospital for the past thirteen years for killing her family: mother, stepfather, and brother. What Frieda finds is appalling. Not only is Hannah almost mute, but she is covered with bruises and heavily medicated. What is happening to her behind closed doors? And why does Frieda find so many irregularities when she studies the case files? Was the case against Hannah mishandled? If so, why? Who is covering up the truth?

Eagerly Anticipating:

From an author I enjoy comes a new book that will be released on November 16:  While You Were Sleeping, by Kathryn Croft.

You wake up to find the man beside you is dead.
He is not your husband. This is not your bed.
What do you do?

Tara Logan lives a quiet life with her husband, Noah, and two children, teenager Rosie and eleven-year-old Spencer.

But her peace is shattered when she wakes in her neighbour Lee’s bed, with no memory of how she got there or what happened between them.
And worse – he has been stabbed to death.

Convinced she didn’t kill Lee, Tara stays silent, fearing the truth will rip her family apart.

But as her daughter spirals out of control, and her husband becomes increasingly distant, Tara soon realises that someone in her life knows what really happened to Lee. She must get to the truth before they do.

I am very happy that this book will be released soon!  It is the kind of story I enjoy.

What are you sharing today?

I just got While You Were Sleeping from Netgalley – I hope it’s good! I’ve never read anything by this author.

Hope you’re enjoying the Allison Winn Scotch book!

Ooh While You Were Sleeping sounds twisty and dark- I might have to get that one! Kinda creepy that someone in her family- husband? daughter? knows what happemed. And Saturday Requiem definitely sounds like it could be a bit dark.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Greg, and I love the sound of While You Were Sleeping, too. The Nicci French series, beginning with Blue Monday, and now on Saturday Requiem…very addictive. I really enjoy the MC, Frieda Klein.
