Today I’m participating in Sam’s WWW Wednesdays. Here’s how it works:
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?
***
Currently Reading:
I am reading two books right now, as I have that restless feeling. One of the books is part of a series, so I can jump over to another book when I’m feeling the mood change.
Sunshine Beach, by Wendy Wax, is another chapter in the series about the women who lost their money to a Ponzi scheme, and then started recovering by renovating the house they each had a part ownership in. What started as a plan to flip that house turned into a career and then a TV show called Do Over.
***
If I Forget You, by Thomas Christopher Greene, is about two former lovers that reconnect in this beautiful and haunting tale of great lost love from the critically acclaimed author of The Headmaster’s Wife.
***
So far so good!
***
JUST FINISHED:
Untethered, by Julie Lawson Timmer (click for my review), is a story rich with themes of blended families, the broken foster care system, and abandonment.
***
EAGERLY ANTICIPATING:
This book, from an author I love, is not coming until March 2017….but I have already requested it from NetGalley (fingers crossed), and I am longing to get my hands on it.
The Trophy Child, by Paula Daly, digs beneath the serene surface of the idyllic suburban Lake District community where families strive for perfection, delivering a suspenseful, surprising story of motherhood and fallibility.
Blurb: Karen Bloom is not the coddling mother type. She believes in raising her children for success. Some in the neighborhood call her assertive, others say she’s driven, but in gossiping circles she’s known as: the tiger mother. Karen believes that tough discipline is the true art of parenting and that achievement leads to ultimate happiness. She expects her husband and her children to perform at 200 percent—no matter the cost. But in an unending quest for excellence, her seemingly flawless family start to rebel against her.
Her husband Noel is a handsome doctor with a proclivity for alcohol and women. Their prodigy daughter, Bronte, is excelling at school, music lessons, dance classes, and yet she longs to run away. Verity, Noel’s teenage daughter from his first marriage, is starting to display aggressive behavior. And Karen’s son from a previous relationship falls deeper into drug use. When tragedy strikes the Blooms, Karen’s carefully constructed facade begins to fall apart—and once the deadly cracks appear, they are impossible to stop.

So…these are my books for today. Current, past, and future reading. What are you sharing today?

I’ve always wanted to read a Wendy Wax book. I even have one! I need to just do it. I heard she’s a lot like Karen White and I love Karen White. 🙂 Happy reading and thanks for stopping by My WWW Wednesday.!

Yes, I consider Karen White and Wendy Wax my two discoveries when I first started blogging….and I’ve interviewed them each on my blogs. They are similar in many ways, and I enjoy them both.
Thanks for stopping by, Deanna, and enjoy your week.

I find I can only read two books at once if one is a re-read, or one is non-fiction. Otherwise my brain just can’t take it! 🙂
Thanks for visiting my WWW post earlier (https://clairehuston.wordpress.com/2016/09/21/www-wednesday-21st-september-2016/) and happy reading!

I usually can’t read more than one…but if they are different genres, or part of a series, like the Wendy Wax, in which the characters are familiar, it works. But I usually spend most of my time on one or the other. Thanks for visiting, Claire.

I don’t often read two books at once, but these two are different enough that it works. I’m halfway through each of them, and I sense that I will be favoring one over the other at some point. Thanks for hosting and for visiting, Sam.

I love the series, as I’ve become “friends” with these characters. This book is the fourth in the series. I’m loving If I Forget You, too, about two lovers, parted by circumstances…who find each other again.
Thanks for visiting, Allison.

I am loving it…I’ve been going back and forth between my two current reads…but I suspect I will turn more to If I Forget You today, as it’s a shorter book, and I might actually finish it. Thanks for visiting, Kourtni.

I hope so, too, Emily, although it’s way out there in terms of release date (March). I got an e-mail today from the publisher, and thought “yay!” But they just wanted me to update my profile.
At least it wasn’t a “decline.” Not yet, anyway. I haven’t been declined that many books, so I’m hoping.
Thanks for visiting!

These all look great but that Wendy Wax book is really calling my name. I love a good starting over story. I’ll have to look for this series.

Oh, yes, from the very first book in this “four book series,” I’ve been caught up in the adventures. I’m the kind of person who watches HGTV, so I was already hooked by the premise. Hope you do try it, Katherine; you’d love it, I think.
Thanks for visiting.

A good range of choices this week Laurel, like you I am so looking forward to reading Trophy Child – I would have been anyway but combined with the subject matter, extremely pushy parents really disturb me, has made me even more so

Oh, yes, I love Paula Daly’s books, and each one is unique, isn’t it? I also hate pushy parents. I want to push them right back.
Thanks for stopping by, Cleo, and I think we’ll love this book when we get it!
