It’s been a fun week, with Bloggiesta, reading, Netflix viewing, and more.  First, check out some of my accomplishments at my Bloggiesta updates post.

As for Netflix, I’m totally immersed in Season 3 of Offspring and almost finished with it….Season 5 for Longmire comes next Friday.

I did a segue onto Amazon Videos, and started watching a show called The Bay.  I’ve only seen a couple of episodes, and I’m not quite hooked.  But I see lots of familiar faces.  Actors that have been on some of my favorite soaps, and some still are there.  Which was a little confusing.  “Hey, there’s Kayla!” (Days of our Lives).  Oops, no, that’s Sarah.  “There’s Ridge,” (Ronn Moss, once from Bold & Beautiful, but now, here, with a different and somewhat evil role).

Of course that happens all the time, even in daytime.  Actors hop between soaps.  The familiarity is comfortable…sometimes.

Back to reading, then.  Where I can find the characters I’m loving right now.  This week I read and reviewed three books, bringing my Read the Books You Buy total to 62.

It’s still pretty warm here; 95 predicted for today, but back to 102 on Monday.  Yikes!  Why am I even surprised?  Not.  Business as usual in these parts.

So let’s have something cold to drink later, but first…more coffee, please!

    I should do Bloggiesta one of these days. I saw a bunch of Twitter stuff on it yesterday.

    I love the pick me up of coffee (and of course it’s pumpkin spice latte season- yay) but 102? I’m not sure I could drink coffee in that heat. I’m spoiled because we’ve moderated down a bit on temps- it hasn’t been bad. I hope you get to cool off too!

    Nice covers this week. I think each one of those is nice- I especially like The Girl Before and A Poisonous Journey. The Girl Before makes me think of a big house with an all glass front for some reason- funny how covers give us mental images! Anyway have a super week!

    1. Thanks, Greg, I love covers that make me think of houses or places I’ve been. Or an era I love to read about, like the 1920s.

      You should try Bloggiesta, as it’s fun and you can do as much or as little as you want. I haven’t actually gotten into the Twitter Chats, although many do love them. My tweeting is mostly about spotlighting blog posts or books…and last week, it came in handy sending messages to bloggers, asking them to check their spam folders for my comments.

      I can’t wait for cooler weather, either….and it will come soon. And then it will be Christmas. lol.

  2. Bloggiesta tempts me every time it comes up but it’s not something I’ve ever done for various reasons. One of these days it’s going to happen! It has been hot! Our daytime temps are still in the 90s but the nights are so much cooler now and I’m really enjoying it. The Girl Before sounds really good. The title just grabs the imagination. Have a great week!

    1. I recommend you just go for it, with Bloggiesta. Try a very short list, and visit a few blogs…it’s fun! Do I sound as though I’m selling it?

      I love the title The Girl Before, too, and requested it, even though I’ve never read the author. I try not to accept review books from unknown authors…but sometimes it’s necessary, I guess.

  4. I keep seeing untethered Laurel and want to read it based on its name alone!!!!

    I haven’t heard of The Bay and it sounds interesting. It’s amazing isn’t it to think of the new technology bringing us entertainment. I remember when House of Cards was made by Netflix or whatever and seen as very unusual!

    1. I am totally addicted to Netflix and Amazon Prime Videos…and yet I also occasionally watch shows On Demand.

      Speaking of House of Cards, I hope there is another season soon, since it’s a political year. That should heighten the intensity, right?

  5. It sounds like Netflix in the US has soooo much more great stuff to watch. I’m kind of glad about it, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have any time left for other stuff. LOL!
    The Girl Before sounds like a good new read. I just love psychological thrillers!

    1. A lot of the shows I enjoy on Netflix are BBC and Australian shows. They are my favorites, actually.

      I try to do Netflix primarily on the weekends…my evenings will be busy now with the returning fall shows.

  6. Great job on the read the books you buy challenge. I started watching a couple of amazon series: One Mississippi and Catastrophe. Of the two I like the first more. It’s kind of quirky but has some emotional issues.
    We had a hot summer but nothing like you’ve had. I’m so grateful for air conditioning.

      I am glad to be adding more books I bought to my “read” list, but there are so many more. Endlessly buying and not reading fast enough. LOL.

    It is hard for me to hear that cool weather is coming already to other places, including where my son lives in Chicago. I’ve lived near Houston all my life, so I accept that summer is a six month affair, starting in May and running through October most years. It’s probably like that where you live, too. I rarely have to face intense cold, and that’s a big plus.

    Enjoy your books this week. Books provide a respite for me from the heat. Hopefully you will enjoy the same.

    1. Yes, that’s exactly how the summers are here, too. There have even been years when it got hot in March! But it always seems to go until October, as that’s when we have our county fair, and it’s always hot during that stretch. lol.

  11. All the ugly and wonderful things keeps catching my eye but I’ve read mixed reviews so looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I can’t imagine the heat – to hot for me I’m afraid. I would need lots of shade and lots of cool cocktails.

  12. I read and enjoyed Untethered last week. A bit different, but good. Hope you like it.
    We also have been having confusing weather– a cool snap then back to hot again. Oh well— October is usually pleasant weather.
    I’ve read two Caroline Leavitt books before. I hope this one is as good as those were! Enjoy the week ahead.

    1. Thanks, JoAnn, I enjoyed the book….even though it started slowly and I was worried. But then I relaxed into it.

      As for Bloggiesta, the best way to approach it is to pretend you are just making a short list of things to do on the blog…and don’t worry about all the extra stuff. Do as little as you want.

      I never do the highly technical things…they frustrate me. I like changing my blog look…although I do that a lot anyway.

      I am so eager for cooler weather…but today, I’ll be in the AC at home and then the movie theater…I think.

    1. Oh, yes, and earlier in the summer, it went up to 110. Usually it stays in the early to middle triple digits, and we did have some days in the 90s…so. Moving in the right direction?

  16. Ugh! Ninety degrees still. That is hot for late September. Reminds me of living in PHX. I remember when it got to be Fall I was more than ready for the heat to subside. A Poisonous Journey is an interesting cover. Such a contrast from the title.

    You are so far ahead of me in reading and TV watching…I am still reading The Clasp….trying to listen to Truly Madly Guilty…an audible book that Den downloaded for me when I was in the hospital…I fell asleep at Chapter 2…woke up at Chapter 5 and have to start all over again. Plus I don’t think I am a good listener! I thought it would be relaxing! But it is not! And I am still obsessed with the food channel!

    1. Oh, yes, I’ll be ready for the new season of Longmire…in the interim, I’ve become addicted to Offspring, and I’m on Season 5….but the characters are really starting to annoy me. LOL. That happens to me when I spend too much time with them.
