Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
The temperatures have consistently stayed in the 90s this week, with 80s predicted for the weekend. Hooray! Could fall be coming soon? Knowing our history in these parts, however, I am sure there will be more hot weather before autumn is truly here.
I had a busy week, with lots of errands and beginning-of-the month activities. On Wednesday, I had a relaxing “stylin’ session” with my daughter at the salon.
My Netflix obsession right now is Longmire. One of the characters I love to hate: Branch Connally!
My books this week were engaging, with three read and reviewed. I was going to post this later today after finishing the fourth book, but I decided to go ahead and share where I am so far. In my Read the Books You Buy Challenge, I am totaling 57 to-date!
For those who participate in Bloggiesta: it is coming again mid-month. September 15-18. Ready, Set, Go!
This past week, one of my blog posts spotlighted some of the books I have purchased for reread…if the time for them ever comes. Have some coffee and let’s chat! And for those in the States: Happy Labor Day Weekend!

I finished It Ends With Us just last week and had an enjoyable reading experience – outside my comfort zone and first time reading the author, but I definitely see myself returning to her books.
I’ve had my eye on The Silver Linings Playbook since the film came out (which I haven’t seen) but have yet to pick it up. I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on that one in the future.
It sounds like you had a great reading week and are doing well with reading challenges; I hope that continues in to the new week!

I have the movie of Silver Linings, but hadn’t read the book…and the author has come out with another book, so I thought I should read this one. Thanks for visiting, Jade. Enjoy your week.

People keep telling me to watch Longmire but I’ve yet to do it. Now I want to see what’s so love to hate about the character. I love those! You have been awful on my TBR pile this past week. I basically want them all. 57 books you owned knocked out is fantastic! Have a great week!

Thanks, Katherine, and I’m not sure how I stumbled upon Longmire, and because it’s set in Wyoming, I probably wouldn’t have picked it if someone hadn’t recommended it. Loving it!
Oh, and my 57 books also include the last half of 2015, which count for the challenge.
Thanks for stopping by, and sorry about the damage to the TBR…LOL.

So do I, Bea, and I just finished reviewing it. Fun book, and I love the short anecdotal chapters. Thanks for visiting and have a great week.
I spend more time on Netflix than on my movie channels…maybe I should rethink those channels. Hmm.

This week seemed to fly by. It’s been nice here with high 70’s/ low 80’s and the humidity practically disappeared! So it’s been nice. Hope your temps moderate a bit for your holida weekend too. I watched the first episode of Longmire a while back but then got sucked into Marcella or something, so maybe I’ll go back. Did you see Marcella got renewed for a S2? I think you had watched that one right?
Have a great weekend!!

I loved Marcella, and I’m happy to hear another season will be coming! All good things on Netflix ahead. Another favorite of mine, House of Cards, will be bringing out another season soon.
Thanks for visiting, Greg, and I’m sorry my Spam filter stuck you away for a while…another comment got the same fate. Glad you brought the possibility to my attention. Enjoy your week.

I hope you have a lovely long weekend Laurel.
I saw a couple of episodes of Longmire (watched it cos there’s an Aussie guy in the lead role) but it didn’t appeal, but I know it lasted a few seasons so was quite popular!
I love the title of All of the Ugly and Wonderful Things.

Thanks for visiting, Deborah, and I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy Longmire, but for some reason, I’m still going strong. I have discovered that sometimes I am drawn to the least likely shows.
I also love the sound of All of the Ugly and Wonderful Things. I can’t wait to read it. Enjoy your week!

I hope it stays “cooler” there. It’s already getting like fall here. But still pretty weather ahead. It seems you might soon be reading Silver Linings. How did you like that movie? It’s seemed quite good, part comedy, part drama. I enjoyed it. Hope the book is good too! have a good week

I am glad that you are enjoying Longmire, it’s my favorite show and I am so glad that Netflix picked it up. At least you were one of us who had to wait two years after the cliffy in season 3 to find out what happened when A&E cancelled the show! I think I am going to start watching Longmire from the beginning today to get ready for season 5!! 🙂

I had never seen the show on A & E, so it’s been great binge-watching. I just finished the second season today, so two more to go before the 23rd.
I’ve been watching another show on AMC, Better Call Saul…I saw the first season on Netflix and the second on AMC. I hope the third season comes soon!
Thanks for stopping by, Stormi. Enjoy your week.

I’m envious of your “stylin’ session.” I was hoping to do that this past Friday, but I didn’t want to make everyone at the salon suffer through my incessant coughing. It’s still bad, and I really need to get my hair done. It’ll have to wait until next weekend, I think. I need to get back to Longmire. I have only seen a couple episodes of the first season. It sounds like you’re enjoying it. 🙂
I hope you have a great week, Laurel-Rain!

I hope you do get to the salon, soon; there’s nothing that feels better than regular pampering. I never used to do that when I was working during my thirty-year career, except for special occasions. Retirement has its upside. In fact, the only downside that I can see hasn’t hit yet….getting too old for fun. LOL.
An extra bonus at my salon: I get to chat with my daughter and catch up.
Enjoy your week, Wendy, and thanks for visiting.

What a terrific week! I am debating getting my hair cut again. I cut it in April after not doing so for over two years, and I didn’t realize at the time that the stylist did not thin it, so it is extremely heavy. I can curl one side and before I’m done with the other it’s already flat. About the only thing that I can “do” with my hair is straighten it.

I wish I had the problem of thick hair. Mine is so fine that it is hard to style it, especially the short hairdos. A shoulder length works best for me.
Thanks for stopping by, Charlie, and I hope it all works out.

We’ve had a few days reprieve from the heat – actually opened the windows and doors! The heat/humidity returns tomorrow thought. I hope to get a lot of reading in the next week. Enjoy your new downloads and tv shows! I’ve been watching Chesapeake Shores on the Hallmark Channel. I read a few of the books from that series years ago so it’s fun watching on screen. Have a great week!

Opening the patio door is usually what I do when it starts to cool down, but we’re not there yet. Soon!
I love Chesapeake Shores, too; haven’t read the books, but I think I will have to do that.
Cedar Cove is another Hallmark series I love, based on books…and then there are the ones from Joanne Fluke’s cozy mysteries.
For a long time, my TV provider did not offer Hallmark, and I asked them about it over and over…and then, suddenly, with no notice, it was there!
Thanks for visiting, Mary, and enjoy your week.

I fell behind on Longmire. Thank god for Netflix! Now I’m catching back up. getting current with I Zombie and The 100 too. We were in the 90s too. Cooler over the weekend with all the rain. The hurricane stayed east of us so no damage, which is always good. I love fall but dread the end of summer. I’ll miss swimming and not looking forward to cold weather.

I am definitely addicted to Longmire, which surprised me, since it’s sort of a “western,” set in Wyoming. But I’ve enjoyed the characters and the stories.
Thanks for stopping by, Laura, and I am definitely happy about Netflix….and fall coming up, with new TV shows and old ones returning.

I just don’t know how you deal with the heat you have. 90’s to me is weather that is too hot. Hope it does cool soon. I notice our days are getting lighter and I believe we go to daylight saving at the end of this month here in NZ!

Thanks for visiting..and hosting, Kathryn, and I think it is definitely cooler in the evenings, as I haven’t had to turn on the oscillating fan while I sleep. (I don’t like leaving AC on at night, even when it’s hot).
It is challenging with the heat, but I guess I’ve grown accustomed to it…sort of.
As for daylight saving time…that means we’ll be “falling back” in early November. (It used to be April and October for time changes, but they’ve moved the dates, so I can’t keep track!).

Oh, yes, I love the little “story” collections of Scottoline’s, as well as her legal thrillers, etc. In all of her books, her humor and her down-to-earth persona come through in her characters, bringing them to life. I then feel like I’m a part of those big Italian families that her characters are immersed in…just as she herself has been. In the story collections, it feels like we’re having a chat with her. Thanks for stopping by, Candace, and I hope we enjoy All the Ugly and Wonderful Things.
