  1. I love a good bowl of French Onion soup. Mmm. With some crusty bread to dip in it… LOL. Glad you got some sunshine this week. We got snow again, but it’s supposed to warm up next week (by warm up they mean 50’s). That’s not what I have in mind LOL.

I have the same problem as you point out in your compulsive book buying post- waiting for the library is sometimes not an option even as I buy books and then don’t read them for weeks or months. So yeah… there’s something about knowing you have them, maybe. 🙂

I did some Netflix bingeing although this week it was more Amazon binging… I wanted to finish a season that Netflix doesn’t have so I had to buy a few episodes. Ugh- but couldn’t wait. 🙂

    1. I’ve done the same thing on Amazon, Greg….I go back and forth between that site and Netflix…and then 11/22/63 is playing on Hulu Plus. So I go there as well.

Loved the French Onion soup…it was a cool day and felt like just what I needed.

Sometimes I wonder why buying the book and letting it sit is better than waiting for the library book, but somehow it is. LOL Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Oh, a new Amy Hatvany? I read her last one so much check out the new read. I think the last one centred around a man (father) with a mental illness so wonder what this one is about.

I’m now 2 seasons behind in House of Cards. For some reason I only want to watch it once I start a season and other times it doesn’t interest me… so I haven’t rushed out to watch s3 as yet!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Deborah, and I love Hatvany! It seems like it’s been a while since her last one…I remember the one about the mentally ill father: Outside the Lines. I couldn’t recall the title, so I looked it up. I hope to love this one, as I did the others.

I can’t seem to stop watching House of Cards whenever I get on Netflix, and because it’s been a while since Season 3 was over, and we were waiting for 4…I am going to be binge-watching this weekend. LOL.

  3. You’re doing great on the Read Your Own Books! My husband loves House of Cards and is looking forward to this new season. It looks great! Your soup looks amazing! Perfect for a cold day when you’ve got a good book! Have a great week!

    1. Yes, it was just what I needed that day…and I always love reading and eating out.

Thanks for stopping by, Katherine, and I’ll be binge-watching Season 4 this weekend. I’m half finished.

    1. I doubt that I will slow down, either, Laura…and I can’t imagine a better way to spend my time…except, of course, for movies and Netflix and lunches with Martinis. LOL. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. I seriously need to try this tv binging. I have Netflix, Hulu and Prime and whilst my children enjoy it, I have yet to binge more than 2 episodes of anything. You picked up some more books I am curious about, and look forward to your thoughts. Hope this week is equally delightful!

    1. You are probably not as obsessive-compulsive as some of us are, Kimberly…LOL. But once I get started on a season on one of my Netflix shows, or find something great on Amazon, I’m gone for the day. Usually only on weekends these days, however.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you accomplish everything you set your mind to…and enjoy it, too.

We are supposed to get rain early this week. I’m excited. Maybe too much so. 🙂 I have only seen the first season of House of Cards. I need to get caught up. Likely it won’t be until this summer. I hope you have a great week, Laurel-Rain!

    1. Thanks, Wendy, and it has been raining hard all night here, still going strong. And, of course, the newspaper carrier never manages to get the paper on the porch, so I had to wade through puddles to get it! Yikes, I hate that.

I only get the newspaper on Sundays, so, of course, I want it where I can get to it easily.

Hopefully your rain will do its job, without too much inconvenience. Enjoy your week, and thanks for stopping by.

  6. Looks like a good week Laurel! And how awesome that you read and reviewed three books that were on your TBR list. I really hope to achieve that to, two weeks from now when I have a free week from work.
‘Somewhere Out There’ looks and sounds really good.
My week was busy and I didn’t have all the reading time I wanted. But it was still a pretty good week! 😉

    1. Thanks, Maureen, and I am grateful for how much time I can put into reading, etc. There were many years when that wasn’t possible. Hope you have a better week, and enjoy your books. Glad you could stop by.

    1. Thanks, Whitney, and I am troubled by Remember Mia, mostly because we see everything from the perspective of an unreliable narrator…hard to know what is true! But I can’t stop reading it.

  7. Losing Me is a new to me title, but your review of it made me want to look for it– also Remember Mia, yes.

I love every book of JT Ellison so No One Knows will be among the first two or three books I acquire after my month of restraint, lol. I also want to pick up the Hatvany book.

Yummy looking brunch as always 🙂 Enjoy the week, enjoy the rain!

    1. I was very pleased with Losing Me, and kicking myself for waiting so many months to read it. But perhaps that fact added to its appeal. Also, the character being older was something I could relate to. Thanks for visiting, Rita, and enjoy your week!

  9. So many wonderful books! I liked your post on being a compulsive book buyer! I just can’t help myself either. My way of dealing with it was to join the I Love Libraries challenge and now when I see a book I HAVE to read, I see if the library is going to have it and put it on my reading list there, and/or put it on a list in my Amazon account. I am now going to check out Remember Mia which sounds right up my alley!

Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week!

P.S. I am now going to have a Pomegranate Martini.

    1. Thanks, Suzanne, and good for you! About reading Remember Mia, which I just finished…and loved; and for vowing to have a Pomegranate Martini. LOL.

Glad you could stop by, and enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Grace, and I love those drinks too…LOL. I just finished House of Cards Season 4, with its 13 episodes…now we have to wait, probably a year, for Season 5, which my son says has already been set in motion. (He works in the movie business).

I am also eager to read Somewhere Out There. Enjoy your week!

I just finished House of Cards Season 4…total binge-watching! My son, who works in Hollywood, says there will be a Season 5. I can’t wait!

  10. Just read your compulsive book buying post! You are doing so well on the challenge. I am booked with review books up until end of May then I am going to concentrate more on my own books. Says she!!

    1. Oh, yes, there are those review books! I have a few I must deal with as well. Trying to mix them in with the ones I buy, and balance it all out…right! LOL

Thanks for stopping by, Kathryn, and I’m grateful for the challenge, otherwise I might just struggle to find that balance.

  12. As always a stunning array of books Laurel. Congratulations on reading so many of the books you own. My own gentler resolution to read my own stuff has worked reasonably well, I’m currently on my ninth book. I’ve got a copy of No One Knows which I intend to read later this month.

  13. I keep hearing great things about Karen White, I need to read something of hers one of these days. This one sounds interesting, it seems to mix mystery and family history, both things I enjoy in novels.
And now I, too, need to watch the new season of House of Cards!

    Happy reading!

    1. I first discovered her books early in blogging, and read her Tradd Street series first…then there were several others I found and loved. Thanks for stopping by, Kay, and I finished the new season of House of Cards last night! It was a major binge. But my son who works in Hollywood reassured me that this was not the final season…Season 5 will come out. But probably in a year.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Sam, and it always takes me a while to pick the right name for a Kindle. You might recall that I had a contest to name my first one (Sparky). This time, I did the “alliteration” thing, with Pippa, my Paperwhite. LOL.

I hope you love House of Cards…if you do, it will definitely become addictive.

Hooray for Pippa the e-reader! I have an old Kindle named Merlin. Still quite handy. It sounds like your reading is a on roll, as usual. Dominick Dunne eh? Those were the days. I remember him sitting in that Simpson courtroom everyday. He was a dogged reporter. And his Vanity Fair columns each month were always entertaining. Enjoy your books & week!

    1. Thanks, Susan, and I had forgotten about Dunne’s connection to the trial, but I read this book a few years ago, probably during the time of the trial. Seeing him on the TV show reminded me. So it’s time for a reread.

I have reread another of his, An Inconvenient Woman. Really loved that one! I also have a movie of it, but in the VHS format. (Jason Robards and Rebecca DeMornay). Couldn’t find it on DVD.

Yes, Pippa is serving me well! I like the idea of a Kindle named Merlin. Sounds magical.
