And let’s join Kathryn, our new leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at The Book Date.

It has been a week of several rainy days in a row…good for staying indoors and reading or blogging.  I did a bit of work on my blogs for Bloggiesta.…which actually started today, but I got impatient and started earlier in the week.  I finished reading and reviewing four books this week, and they were all engaging.  I love when that happens!

  1. Looks like a good week in spite of the rain… I liked your movie post. It’s fun to have a nice meal and settle in with a good movie. And I know exactly what you mean about finding the right book- sometimes it takes a few tries and then the right one sucks you in. 🙂 Glad you found good one.

Don’t You Cry and Missing Piece both look good as well.

    1. Thanks, Greg, and when that book sucks you in, a whole day can go by, which is what happened to me when I read Missing Pieces today. My eyes are now blurring…LOL.

I’m also looking forward to Don’t You Cry…and to going to another movie soon.

How interesting that Anna Quindlen has a new book coming out! Your blogs are looking good. I revamped the look on my site too — just something different for a change. Enjoy your rainy days — it’s good for the drought right?

I don’t know if you are like me but I always seem to start the year strong. I think it’s because I add so many good books to my wish list at the end of the year.

The Widow sounds so good! As does Missing Pieces. I have both to read in my TBR pile and hope to get to them soon. It’s been a rather quiet morning here. We’re hoping to go out for a walk a little later. I hope you have a great week, Laurel-Rain!

  5. I still have to read Pretty Baby, but am sure I’ll read Don’t You Cry. I was sick with the flu so did not participate in bloggiesta, grr as i wanted to catch up with my review links. I have to be at the office tomorrow even though we are closed for MLK day, so maybe the blog will get some attention. Love those books that draw you in and won’t let you go until it is done. Have a great week.

  6. Hi Lorraine,

You featured a great selection of books this week, with the two which really caught my eye being the Mary Kubica and the Helen Klein Ross.

As you mentioned NetGalley, I linked straight across, only to be thwarted in my quest … ‘What Was Mine’ has literally just been archived and ‘Don’t You Cry’ is only available in Canada and the US.

Never mind, both are heading for my Want To Read list anyway.

Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week 🙂

It’s been raining a lot in Sacramento and it is the kind of weather to stay indoors. It’s great you read some books you liked and the ones next up look really good. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books.

  8. I see you have now read Missing Pieces and liked it very much! You had a great reading week. I have as yet to read a book by Anna Quindlen, she is someone I need to experience!

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, I couldn’t stop reading once I started Missing Pieces. And you are in for a treat with Quindlen. You’ll probably want to check out her backlist, too, with Black & Blue, One True Thing (both were movies), and Every Last One, among others.

Glad you could stop by, and thanks for hosting. Enjoy your week.

So many good books and not enough hours! Cool cover on Don’t You Cry and I’ve heard nothing but good about Anna Quindlen’s books and I’m yet to read one. Tonight I’m finishing Missing Pieces, I didn’t want to put it down, but thought I should do some blog commenting lol.
Have a great week and happy reading 🙂

    1. I had that same “problem” with Missing Pieces…I was pretty tired, with blurry eyes, once I finished, Teddyree, but I loved it. I also love Quindlen…have been following her work for many years. Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting.

  10. The Anna Quindlen novel caught my eye – I find her writing lyrical and true, particularly those which pertain to books and reading – but haven’t really read any of her novels yet. Great to see how productive your reading/writing week has been – very inspiring!

    1. Ooh, it sounds cold there, Elizabeth….we’re having rainy days, but it’s not usually too cold when that happens. Enjoy your week, too, and I’m looking forward to another good one, as I loved Missing Pieces and I’m really enjoying What Was Mine.

  12. I am curiou about the Mary Kubica book, it looks good. I am also interested to hear your thoughts on the Widow. I already read it, my review goes up in February. I hear ya, about the rain, the last two months here in Oregon, we have only had six completely dry days, and rain is predicted every day this week. Sigh…

    1. I am also curious about the Kubica book….since it won’t be released until May, I won’t read it for a while….I am just now starting The Widow. I’m liking it so far.

It’s raining here again today! Thanks for stopping by, Heidi, and enjoy your week.

Thanks for visiting, Jen, and I’m glad you like the new look. Enjoy your week.

  13. Oh, I definitely want to read the new Mary Kubica, even though I didn’t love the previous ones as much as some other readers did. But still I find her style compelling and entertaining, so I know I’ll still read this one.
    Happy reading!
