WEEKLY UPDATES: CELEBRATING THE MOMENTS

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our new leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at The Book Date.

I hope everyone who celebrates it had a great Christmas…mine was cozy and close to home, with wonderful family moments.  I had a pretty good reading week, too, with three books read and reviewed.  I binged on Netflix until I finally finished The West Wing…and started Jessica Jones.

Here is a delightful “gag” gift that seemed appropriate…from my daughter (the mug).

In a little while, I’m off to see a movie I’m excited about:  Joy, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, among others.

    1. Oh, I LOVED it, Mary…and I had no idea that it was based on a real woman, Joy Mangano, who is a big deal entrepreneur. I always enjoy Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper….and I loved how I hated some of the characters, like the one portrayed by Robert DiNiro. They are doing a great job when they evoke emotions, even hatred.

    1. Thanks, Bea, I am going to have fun with that mug!

I have participated in various TBR Challenges over the years, and I think the one I joined for 2016 at The Book Date (reading what I buy) will suffice nicely, since the dead weight on my Kindle is from books I bought. The review books are out of there very quickly.

    1. It was easy for me to visually see my purchased books, as I add them to a page on my Curl up and Read blog when I buy them…and then link to my reviews when I’m finished reading. I copied and pasted the pages onto Word docs, too, so I can have easy access to the lists. OCD much? LOL

Thanks for stopping by, Katherine, and I love the mug too.

I love that coffee mug ! And Jessica Jones has been giving me the eye on Netflix, too. Just say yes has received excellent reviews, so enjoy 🙂

    1. Thanks, Izabel, I love mugs that “speak” to me with slogans, etc. And this one certainly does. I liked my first episode of Jessica Jones, and the actress is one I enjoyed in Breaking Bad. I’ve also read good reviews of Just Say Yes. Enjoy your week!

    1. Definitely! She has given me several gifts that appeal to my bookish tastes, including my first Kindle five years ago. Thanks for stopping by, Natasha, and isn’t it great to add more books? Have a great week.

  2. Just love that mug!! I’m still trying to decide what my first book of 2016 will be… such a monuments decision;-) Cleaning out my reader is beginning to sound like a complete fantasy. Have a great week.

I love that mug!! Joy looks really good so I hope you like it. There are so many great movies coming out but I’ll have to wait until they are on dvd. I hope you enjoy all your new books and have a Happy and safe New Year!

    1. Oh, I loved it, Yvonne! It was emotional, with both happy and sad moments, and inspirational. It was based on a true story of Joy Mangano, whom I guess is a big entrepreneur. But Jennifer Lawrence did a great job of making me root for her. It was a perfect movie to come out on Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by, and I am already looking forward to what I’m going to read next.

  4. I loved the West Wing, have it all on DVD, was so sorry to see it finish. I saw the movie Joy being advertised on TV just last night so must go see it when if finally arrives. Love the mug. Made me laugh. I read The Things We Keep this week, needed a really light one afterwards!

    1. Yes, I cried more in The West Wing than any other show I’ve watched recently…enjoyed Martin Sheen and Stockard Channing…and Allison Janney, too.

I hope you love Joy, and that mug made me laugh, too.

Definitely needed a light one after The Things We Keep! Thanks for stopping by, Kathryn…and for hosting.

I barely read a thing last week so Just Say Yes is still on my reading list this week. Hope we both enjoy it. I almost picked Joy to see this afternoon but went with Mockingjay part 2 before it finishes at the cinema. Hope Joy is as good as it looks. Have a great week and happy reading 🙂

  6. Your daughter knows you so well! That mug is hilarious! I really want that Joshilyn Jackson book – she’s one of my favorite authors. Joy looks/sounds interesting but the reviews are very mixed so I’m curious to know what you thought of it.

    1. Oh, yes, Kathy, she does…just when I think she is not paying attention, she nails it. She gave me my first Kindle, too.

I loved Joy…it made me laugh and cry…and want to shout. Hope you enjoy it, too….if you see it. It was unusual…and not what I had expected, but I was in just the right mood for it.

I love Joshilyn Jackson, too, so I’m eager to dive in. Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Elizabeth, and I am looking forward to The Opposite of Everyone. This Delinsky book is different from others I’ve read, but I’m enjoying it.

I can’t believe 2015 is almost over, either! It was a great year, with my house guests from Europe for most of the summer making it truly awesome!

      Enjoy your New Year!

    1. Thanks, Laura, I have found a resting place for the mug on my Baker’s Rack, but hope to have coffee in it now and then, at least for photo ops…LOL.

Hope you enjoy Joy…hey, that was weird – “enjoy Joy.” I mainly went for the actors, and they made the movie for me.

I am ready to add Hoover to my list of new favorite authors.

    1. I loved the movie, primarily because of the actors, but the story was inspirational, with lots of emotional moments. So…perfect for the holidays.

I probably went to the movies more this year than last, but I used to go every weekend (when I was younger).

Thanks for stopping by, Kathy, and have a great week.

  8. I have so many things downloaded to my Kindle that it would take years to clear it even if I read all the time, which obviously I can’t do. Eventually I figure that if they don’t catch my eye enough to read, it is time to move on.

    1. Oh, I love seeing what everyone says and respond accordingly….just in case they come back to see what I wrote. It’s like a conversation, then. Thanks for stopping by, Susan, and I hope you enjoy your books and blogging. Yes, must have something chocolate!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Gabi…I love the mug, too….and the movie, although some were disappointed with the story of the film. I guess I just love anything Bradley and Jennifer are in…and the movie was just what I needed in that moment.
