I just came from the movies and saw Before I Go to Sleep.  I enjoyed it, but some reviewers gave it “rotten tomatoes.”  Who are those critics?  LOL

I read Before I Go to Sleep earlier this year….and while I only gave it four stars, I remember enjoying it.  And I thought the movie was actually better…so I guess I have poor taste!  LOL

  3. I am going to listen to Winter Street for the Ho-Ho-Ho read a thon and cannot wait. I love Before I Go to Sleep so I am curious now that you said the movie was better. The Rosie Effect has me quite curious, read it soon..LOL

  4. I wasn’t familiar with Before I Go To Sleep but now I’m curious… looks like a good thriller. Love the memory loss idea and the cast looks good too… Kidman and Firth. Hmm..

    I like the cover for Winter Street too, and that looks like a very nice holiday read.

    1. I think the cast was why I loved the movie even more than the book…and I am definitely a movie buff. Love them! The book was excellent, too. Thanks for stopping by, Greg.

      And I had never read a winter book by this author, so I am curious about Winter Street.

      Enjoyed my rainy Saturday at the movies, with lunch and a martini beforehand at the bistro within walking distance of the theater. A fun day!

  6. I never agree with the movie critics, I usually love the ones they slate! I’m looking forward to Before I Sleep, it’s a while since I read the book but I know I really enjoyed it. Nice haul, I like the look of all your books especially the Jane Green (whom I love). Happy reading 🙂

    1. Oh, glad I am not the only one who disagrees with the movie critics! The same goes for TV shows…the networks usually cancel some of my favorites…sigh.

      Not all, though, as The Good Wife is still on….LOL

    Great minds, think alike, Laurel. We both talked about Before I Go to Sleep this week. Glad you liked the movie and even thought it better than the book. I’ll see it sometime. Sort of sad though right? And a lot of hysterics. LOL. Enjoy your week.

  9. I’ve found that some stories work better as movies and vice versa so I can see the movie being better than book. It’s not often the case but it does happen. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’m not a big movie person but I like the poster for that one so I’ll have to look for it. Great books this week! I’m especially curious about Winter Street. Have a great week!

    Putting One Moment, One Morning on my list. I think the cover is pretty enough to make me want to read it, and the synopsis make it even more desirable. Reading Winter Street as part of the Ho-Ho-Ho read-a-thon next week.

  11. I have Winter Street to read during the Holiday Read-a-thon, and I want Saving Grace and Five Days Left! I do still want to see Before I Go to Sleep based on the commercials. I only read about a chapter of the book before returning it and not bothering to pursue it last year. Sometimes it’s just my current mood and doesn’t mean the book wasn’t for me. Anyway, I am one in the minority who will occasionally find the movie better than the book, though as a book review blogger I’m not supposed to admit that, lol! Enjoy your week with those tempting titles.

    1. I am also a movie buff, and while I love reading, there is just something about the big screen! Some books to movies didn’t do much for me…can’t even think of one right now…LOL.

  13. Wow! What a great bunch of books! I started reading The Rosie Effect and am enjoying it immensely! Same tone as The Rosie Project, but now that we know everyone, it’s just more fun. I was intrigued by Before I Go to Sleep when I came across it somewhere. It’s the kind of movie I like, but I had no idea it was a book first. I’m going to have to hunt down a copy before I see the movie! Thanks for sharing! And just remember, if there’s not a lot of chase scenes and explosions, movies tend to get panned. 😉 Enjoy your week!

    1. I am reading The Rosie Effect, too, and I’m almost finished…wow, some real surprises! And some growth on Don’s part, too…I think. LOL

      OMG…you are right about the critics. And a movie about someone’s “interior life” is definitely not full of chase scenes, although there is plenty of excitement as the movie progresses.

  17. I’ve read Before I go to sleep so wondered if I’d want to see the movie… (Same with Gone Girl.) I thought by knowing the major ‘twist’ there might be nothing left to enjoy, but it sounds like that wasn’t the case.

  24. What a great group of books this week. I especially liked the sounds of One Moment, One Morning and the cover is fabulous. I’m trying really hard not to buy more books, my stacks are toppling as it is. But it is hard not to “cave”. 🙂

    What a nice assortment of books. I am finding the second Maggie Shayne in the Brown and De Luca series much better than the first. You might want to skip over book 1 if your decide to give her a try. I can’t tell you the last time I went to a theater and saw a movie. I think I’m skipping 2014.
