  1. Congrats on a productive week, except for waiting for those repairmen. I bet they never showed 😉
I read What Remains a couple of years ago and remember enjoying it. The part where she describes her husband’s illness & also the search for JFK Jr.’s plane was heartbreaking. I had read a memoir of JFK Jr and his wife (written by his secretary) which detailed the last few days of his life. No matter your politics, you would be made of stone to not shed a tear for the tragic end to a new couple’s hopes and dreams.
I’ve read most Kristin Hannah’s but not that one. Must be a fairly older one for me to have missed it.
My week has been pretty quiet, still waiting on test results and keeping busy reading, tv watching and taking quiet walks at dusk, to avoid the heat. Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks! They finally came on Friday morning, Rita. And it was a woman and a man, and surprisingly, the woman was the worst. She was rude and kept pulling aside curtains and not putting them back, or opening blinds and not putting them down! I went behind her fixing things, which I wouldn’t have done until she left, except she irritated me so much! I’m sure the long waiting period had something to do with that feeling. LOL

I love anything about the Kennedys, but little John-John felt as though he were one of my own, since he was visible for us all to see from his early days. And he was such a cute little one. I did cry…and will do so again as I read, I’m sure.

I am reading a book now that starts on November 22, 1963, and the characters’ defining moments coincide with that momentous occasion. “The Unwitting,” by Ellen Feldman, whom I adore; it is so engaging and I can’t stop reading.

I did stumble upon that older Kristin Hannah book and wondered how I’d missed it. Hope all of your test results are good ones. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I totally forgot about Mini-Bloggiesta and so I won’t be participating but I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun and that you’ll enjoy it. You’ve got some really interesting books this week and I hope you’ll enjoy them. Great post 🙂

  3. After the Party sounds a bit like the book I finished reading a few days ago – After I Do. I loved it. I’ll watch for your thoughts on AtP. Glad the repair crew arrived. I would’ve done the same thing you did – how annoying of that person!
I’d like to do a Blogiesta one of these days. Maybe next time. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    1. Thanks, Mary…I have never tried Lisa Jewell, and I’ve been noticing her new books, so I thought I would start with an older one.

As for the repair crew…not only did the woman brusquely push her way in, not even introducing herself (usually they do), she looked around in places I thought were none of her business. LOL

I think I have a new “rant” post out of it!

      Have a great week!

  4. I keep missing out on Blogeista and the mini. I need to carve out more time for updating and refreshing. I have read After The Party and I remember wishing I had read Ralph’s Party first. Have you read that one?

    Have a great week!!!!

    1. I do it because it is fun for me…but if I had other MORE fun things to do, like baby grandchildren, I might not! LOL

Thanks for stopping by, Lori…and no, I haven’t read Ralph’s Party. Will check it out.

  6. I have always been fascinated by the Kennedys. Such a tragic family.

I have many of Kristen Hannah’s books in my TBR. She’s always good.

Have a great week and thanks for visiting my blog.

    1. Yes, I subscribe to the blog that hosts it, so I get the notices. I love fiddling around with the blogs (yes, I have eleven!), so that’s how I manage. Thanks for stopping by, Karen, and enjoy your week.

First thing I noticed was your change in background and header – like it, I am one for strong colours!! I haven’t read the book mentioned by Kristin Hannah, really like her books though.

    1. Thanks, Kathryn…I played around with some other themes, but finally decided to keep this theme and just change the header and background. Sometimes that’s all it takes for me.

I was surprised to find a Kristin Hannah book I had missed along the way.

    1. Bloggiesta is an event that happens every season and focuses on blog improvements, makeovers, etc. Mini-Bloggiesta is a smaller, in-between event. It’s fun! Thanks for stopping by, Fiza.

  9. When I was really young, I read The Bell Jar. Didn’t take much from it. Wonder if I should give it another chance. I just remember her throwing up in the back of a cab. Need to reread.

    Love your header.

    1. I don’t either, Susan…I just stumbled upon this one at Barnes & Noble. That is the one advantage to physical bookstores…you can stumble upon something more easily than online…IMO. I haven’t read enough about JFK, Jr. I’m looking forward to this one.

    1. Oh, it’s a very fun event in which bloggers choose tasks to clean up and/or make over their blogs, while visiting other bloggers doing the same. And some of us have nachos and margaritas while doing so…LOL. Hope you join in next time, Sophie (in September).
