Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post,  and Book Journey, for  Weekly Updates.

**Mailbox Monday is now hosted at the home site:  Mailbox Monday.

Good morning, Bloggers!  Grab some coffee (or a mimosa), and let’s talk about our weeks.

breakfast for two

I hope everyone who celebrates the Fourth of July had a great one.  I had a quiet day, with reading and movies.  Here’s a movie I enjoyed.  Lots of stars from my youth, who are now older…as well as some young ones, too.  Tammy was a fun movie, with Susan Sarandon, Allison Janney, Kathy Bates, Dan Ackroyd, and Melissa McCarthy.

    1. I love that breakfast! My daughter’s fiance made that; isn’t he a doll?

I love the Wendy Wax series…and it does look like it would definitely cool me off, too. Thanks for stopping by, Kimba.

  2. Happy 4th, and enjoy your week. I like staycations too, and reading and movies sound like a good way to spend the weekend. Mr. Churchill’s secretary sounds good, I eyeballed that one at the bookstore recently, the cover caught my eye. Hope it’s good!

    1. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Mr. Churchill’s Secretary. Lots of twists and turns and good espionage stuff. I say “enjoyed,” because I am only 30 pages from the end, so I’ll be finishing it this morning. Thanks for stopping by, Greg, and enjoy your week, too.

  3. I really want to see Tammy – it’s probably going to take ages for it to come to the cinemas in Finland, so I probably just have to wait until I go back to UK to see it. :<
I hope you had a good 4th of July!
    Have a great week!

  4. Do you recommend Tammy? I saw an ad for it and wondered. I like McCarthy but even she needs a good script 🙂 Your new books look great (a few are on my shelf including the Luanne Rice book – thanks for the reminder!).

    1. If you like Melissa McCarthy, you should enjoy this one. She is revealed in all her bawdiness, but the vulnerability is there, too. And I love Susan Sarandon and Allison Janney. Great cast.

I am hoping to love the Luanne Rice, and I’m wondering why I waited so long to read it? LOL. Thanks for stopping by, Mary.

  6. I’ve been doing some staycation activities lately. I am currently reading Little Mercies. I will look forward to your review. I just added One Plus One to my list. Looks like you have a great collection of books! Have a great week!

  7. I am eager for Big Little Lies as a fan of Lianne Moriarty. I have seen Small Blessings on your blog and added it to my wishlist already. And I actually have that Luanne Rice book somewhere–I used to read her older ones and dropped off recently. I just finished Little Night and wasn’t that satisfying..hope to get The Lemon Orchard though.

I have heard folks critical of the movie Tammy, but with Susan Sarandon and Alison Janney (yay, West Wing) it should be a hoot. I met Ms. Janney once when she visited the school I worked at in Maine. Her niece and nephew attended the school–her ex-sis-in-law lived near Boothbay Harbor, Maine …just name dropping here 😉
Keep cool with an iced beverage and content with a good book!

    1. Oh, I loved the movie and the surprise appearances of some “oldies,” like Dan Ackroyd. It was like a reunion of all the actors that I remember from their youth…and mine. LOL

There will always be people critical of Melissa, and she does have a bawdiness about her that seems startling…but then, beneath it all, we glimpse the vulnerability. Seeing Susan Sarandon with gray hair was interesting.

Thanks for stopping by, Rita, and I am excited about Big Little Lies, too.

  8. I’m glad to hear Tammy was a fun movie! It’s one I want to see, though I’ll probably wait for Netflix. I bought several Luanne Rice novels at the last library book sale. I can’t wait to dig in!

Your weekend sounds pretty lovely though! Looks like you got some great books! I Love You More has been on my radar for awhile. It looks really interesting and I love the cover.

    1. Since I get to do what I want (pretty much) each day now, it doesn’t feel as though I need a vacation (or staycation). But maybe just a trip to the beach…or a day at some of the great places right close by.

Thanks for visiting, Elizabeth…I am excited about my new books, too.

  14. SO many great books here! I’m especially interested in the new Liane Moriarty and Jojo Moyes titles. Doll-baby looks good, too.

I like to escape the snow and cold in the winter and tend to stay put in the summer… the weather is good, plus we’re close to both lakes and mountains. Have a good week!
