I just came home after seeing the movie The Fault in Our Stars. I loved the book…and now the movie. It is definitely one that I will buy when the DVD comes out! Who has seen it? What did you think?
My reading week was strange. Awesome books, not so awesome one, and then a slight SLUMP. Luckily I found my way out of it.

Heather Gudenkauf is a hit or miss for me; she can be excellent or merely average. I’m not familiar with that Nora Roberts book, I hope it’s good. Have a good week.

Me, too, Bea….I know that there are many of Roberts’ books that I missed along the way….but I liked the sound of the blurb.
I have enjoyed all of Gudenkauf’s books, but yes, some are better than others.

In my experience the film version of a book I liked rarely meets my expectations so I’m glad to hear you liked TFIOS movie! Enjoy your new books!

The last thing I saw that the movies was The Lego Movie. I tend to wait until the holidays and then binge on movies. Glad you enjoyed the movie – not all adaptations are excellent.

Scared Scriptless looks like a bit of fun!! SO excited for the TFIOS movie! x) I probably won’t be seeing it for a few weeks, buuuut…eep. I’m rereading the book just beforehand. So you know, double bang of intense pain. My Sunday Post!

I’m going to watch TFIOS on July 12th when it comes to our cinemas! I’m so freaking excited and I cannot wait to see it. I’m so glad you loved it. Also you’ve got some really great books this week. Great haul 🙂

I completely relate with the need to organize home. I’ve been reading some feng-shui lately, not completely taking it all, but I picked very useful and sensible ideas. Books slumps happen sometimes 🙂 Have a great week !

Your week included some great authors and books I’m interested in. I love all things Barbara Delinsky, who is one of my favorite authors. Really enjoyed Alison Sweeney’s previous book and her new one has a cute title, so on the list it goes. I got a copy of Little Mercies at BEA, so am happy to see there’s another book from Heather Gudenkauf. I also got Keep Your Friends Close at BEA and may have gotten My Salinger Year as well, I won’t know until I finish unpacking my BEA goodies, LOL. Happy reading!

As usual I have a pen and paper handy when I read your weekly meme to jot down all the books I want for my wishlist! Some great titles there, I really want to read the new Heather Gudenkauf; I feel she is an slightly overlooked and underrated author. Scared Scriptless looks like a cute one and I like the actress who wrote it… I could go on, but I won’t.
About book slumps..yep…been there, done that many times. Most recent was after I moved. I just couldn’t find a book I enjoyed, and my choices were some of my go-to authors to boot. I changed direction and genres and got out of it, luckily.

I think we both used a great tool for extricating ourselves from the slump….what can possibly be better than an old favorite author? (Not necessarily OLD, but someone we go to for comfort).
Moving, or any other kind of disruption, is definitely a trigger for slumps and that general feeling of discomfort. Things are out of whack…and we are flailing about.

I saw an interview with Allison Sweeney about Scared Scriptless and it sounded really good. I also like the sound of My Salinger Year so I’ll have to go check it out. I’ll have to look for your review of The Stories We Tell as I really enjoyed the excerpts you posted Friday. Hate a book slump but glad you were able to bust out of it!

Yes, I am grateful for my eclectic collection of books…eventually I find something to love…LOL.
I have enjoyed Sweeney’s other books…and I really have enjoyed her portrayal of Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives over the years.

I’m excited that Patti Callahan Henry has a new novel coming out. I really enjoyed Coming Up For Air. I haven’t read (or seen) TFIOS, but I hear it’s very good, and to have tissues handy.

Once my teen daughter finished her exams we are hitting the movies and watching The Fault in Our Stars. We both read the book and can’t wait to see the movie version.

TFIOS was like a life changing experience for me, I had never been to a movie where everyone was cheering before it even began and continued all the way through

I teared up some, even though others were sobbing….having just read the book, I think I was prepared for everything that happened. Also…I thought the book (and movie) had an uplifting feel.

Great that the movie lived up to the book. It is one I have been meaning to read for a long time. I am not very good with sad books, but I guess there must be a whole lot of uplifting in there as well.

I am just getting over a BIG book slump! I have seen the fault in the stars on move yet as I have to wait until it comes out on DVD because of Captions. I heard it was good though! I LOVED the book.

Scared Scriptless is a fun read. I struggled with a book but made my way through yesterday afternoon. It may just have been me but I think it was just too long and drawn out. Percolating my thoughts today before I write the review.
