Good morning! Today’s post will link up to Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post, and Book Journey, for What Are You Reading?
**Mailbox Monday is now hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
My reading and blogging have suffered a bit this week. I’m just feeling very lazy! One day, I had to take the car in for a tune-up, so there went a morning. I took Sparky along so I could read, but it was much more fascinating talking to a couple of the people in the waiting room. Do you ever feel that way? Talk before reading? My blog is undergoing a bit of a tweak this week due to Bloggiesta.
I saw a movie this week that I thoroughly enjoyed…enough to watch it twice! Blue Jasmine, with Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin. Lovely New York and San Francisco settings, and Cate was fabulous as a pill-popping woman on the edge.

Every one of those books looks yummy…especially the Karen White book…I think sometimes…stepping away from the blog and books…is good!

Yes, I feel quite rejuvenated. When I am holed up indoors blogging and reading, I sometimes forget the sound of my own voice! lol
Thanks for visiting, Patty. And the previous books in the Karen White series are great, so I’m looking forward to this one.

I’ve heard amazing things about Blue Jasmine…it’s one of the few movies that’s caught award buzz this year that I still need to see! Looks like you have plenty of great books coming in this week 🙂

Yes, I wanted to see Blue Jasmine in the theaters, but it was in and out so fast….I’m glad I saw it at home, though, as I got to watch it over again. I like Woody Allen’s newer movies, especially the ones without him…lol. Like Matchpoint, although that one came out a few years ago.
Thanks for stopping by, Shannon, and enjoy your week!

I am always amazed at how much chattering I can do…with strangers, no less! But then I was a social worker for thirty years, and we did a lot of talking! lol
I have enjoyed the staying home and nesting with books, though; recharging the batteries.
Thanks for visiting, Deb, and enjoy your reads.

I think being lazy is sometimes just what we all need. 🙂 Love the cover on The All You Can Dream Buffet and Return to Tradd Street. I will have to check both of those out and the Blue Jasmine movie. I need a good movie. Thanks for sharing. I hope you have a great week.

Oh yay Fangirl, I really liked that one. I didn’t adore it as the fan-fiction bored me a bit but the characters are fab.
I think talking beats reading when you have someone interesting to chat to. But it’s always handy to have a kindle on hand to ward off the bores :O

Definitely! Having the Kindle in my bag is like protection…and then, if I don’t need it, oh well! lol
Thanks for stopping by, Trish…and now I’m hoping I do like Fangirl, as fan-fiction isn’t my thing. But I do enjoy great characters.

So you probably have an idea of what I’m going to ask, but I’ll ask it anyway 🙂 –> What hefty book did you finish this past week? And a follow-up question: was it worth it?
LikeLike
It was Life After Life…and once I was done, yes, it was worth it. But I won’t be rereading it…lol.
Thanks for stopping by, Bryan…and I’m going for the slightly shorter books for awhile (between 300-450 pages).

That is quite a selection, Orange is the new black is something which would interest me as well.

I actually started reading Orange, when I needed a break from the other current read. One section of the McMillan book, which I am reading on Sparky, had very tiny print! I don’t think I can increase the font size on my version…lol.
Thanks for visiting, Peggy, and enjoy your week.

I should try Bloggiesta, I probably would learn a lot from it. Hope it was fun. Some nice new book additions, hope you like Fangirl and a couple of those others looks pretty good too.
Blue Jasmine sounds great and a nice cast too. Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier.

I thoroughly enjoyed Blue Jasmine. I’ve always been a fan of Cate Blanchett, anyway, and she nailed the role. Thanks for stopping by, Greg, and Bloggiesta is great. You can do as much or as little as you want, and it gives you an excuse to spend time on the blog.
I hope I like Fangirl, too; I don’t read very many YA books….

Blue Jasmine looks like a good movie.
I know those feelings well when you just don’t feel like reading. It happens but hopefully it doesn’t last long.

Yep, I have those lazy weeks too when I get busy doing other stuff when I am supposed to be doing blog stuff. I am curious about that Woody Allen movie, his movies are hit or miss for me. I am still on the fence as to whether or not I will review what Nora knew, probably as I need a good chick lit book. I really liked Fangirl and I hope you do too. Have a wonderful week.

I hope so, too, Heidi…and I like some of Woody’s movies more than others. His recent ones have been pretty good, I think, although I do still like the ones from the 90s with Mia Farrow (despite their history!).
I have mixed feelings about Fangirl (I’m hoping it’s not too silly!), but I enjoyed the author’s book Attachments, so I’m willing to give it a go.
Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your week…and those big trees.

Hi Laurel-Rain,
I too haven’t been reading so much lately and my blog posts have taken something of a hit because of this. My blog tends to control most of my evenings, which does rather annoy hubbie, so there is a constant balancing act going on to appease him a little, although talking will generally take priority over reading.
You have some great books this week, I particularly like the cover of ‘Return To Tradd Street’, however the one which has made it onto my list has to be ‘Still Life’ by Louise Penny. I am a real sucker for any crime or mystery books!
Thanks for sharing and have a good week,
Yvonne
