Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post,  and Book Journey, for What Are You Reading?

**Mailbox Monday for December will be at Rose City Reader.

What a great week!  Christmas was wonderful…and with the New Year ahead, I can’t think of anything better.

Today I spent time with my granddaughter Fiona, and we saw American Hustle.  An impressive film, with a fabulous all-star cast.

The holidays interfered with some of my blogging, but the reading was great.  I have now finished reading and reviewing 210 books this year.

What was your week like?  What are you hoping for the New Year?

    1. Hope you get to see it soon, Bryan…I hate when movies I am eager to see aren’t playing nearby. Our city doesn’t always bring us the movies I want. Hoping to see August: Osage County in the New Year. Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Thanks, Yvonne…and I love the season also. It goes too quickly, though, which is why we need those two months ahead to anticipate it. Glad you could stop by, and I’m eager to read the book about Sylvia Plath, too.

    1. It was an “over the top” extravaganza, moving rapidly along….and the music took me back, Nise. I am also looking forward to August: Osage County. But now, back to my reading…lol. Thanks for stopping by.

Well all books unknown to me, however that is the joy of going around blogs and finding ones I might read! Looking forward the Jan 1st post from everyone.

  2. Glad you had a great Christmas! American Hustle sounds fun. The holidays interfered w/ my blogging a bit too- I didn’t touch my book for almost 4 days with traveling and family, but ready to settle back in this week. Have a great New Year!

  4. I hear you on the no parcels – our postie worked 2 days last week and apparently the backlog today is huge!
American Hustle is next on my list of movies to see – perhaps next week. Have a lovely new year with much reading!

  5. I enjoyed Here, Home, Hope a couple of years ago. Hope you do as well. One of my kids saw American Hustle last week and said it was good.
As usual, my hope for the new year is to read more of my own books (I say it every year!) and to be more selective in accepting review books requests.

    1. I second your hope for the new year….I simply must do all of those things, too! I have started doing them more lately…but it takes a new year and a challenge or two to keep me going. Thanks for stopping by, Mary, and I hope to enjoy Here, Home, Hope, as well.

  6. Looks like an interesting week of reading. I loved Here, Home, Hope – hope you like it too. At first I thought Twelve Houses said Twelve HORSES – lol! Being that 2014 is the year of the Horse, seemed appropriate, but then I realized it was Houses! Gotta get my eyes checked! Happy Reading, my friend!

    1. At first when I saw Here, Home, Hope, I thought: didn’t I read that? But it wasn’t on any of my lists…and then I realized that I featured it in a WOW post some time ago.

And ha-ha….I like what you “saw” as Twelve Horses. Sounds like an intriguing title. Thanks for stopping by, and Happy New Year.

  7. I want to see that movie, but I seem to be the only one in this household, lol. I will be sure to watch for it on HBO next year 🙂

Thank you for stopping by my blog. Seeing your face and reading you messages helped me every week more than you know. Hopefully I am more organized now and my visiting time is back 🙂

    1. I used to go to the movies every weekend, but lately, my attendance has dropped off drastically. But some movies must be seen on the Big Screen. Hope you get to see this one, Diana. Thanks for stopping by.

  8. Hi Laurel-Rain,

Wow! some great books this week and a real ‘blast from the past’ for me, as I haven’t read any Frances Fyfield books for years, at which time, I only read her stand alone novels. I see that ‘A Question Of Guilt’ was the first book in the Helen West series and was written way back in 1988, so it will be interesting to see how you rate the book and its dated policing methods, compared to the more up to date methods of writing and detection.

Have a very happy New Year,

    Yvonne
