WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES: READING, BLOGGING, & A GIVEAWAY AHEAD

PicMonkey Collage-updates collage

Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post,  Book Dragon’s Lair, for Mailbox Monday, and Book Journey, for What Are You Reading?

This week sped by, and as I examine my accomplishments, I am pleased.  And tired!  Remember the stress of last week, and my DMV exam?  Well, this week brought opportunities to read and blog; a coffee meeting with an old friend; and my actual driver’s license in the mailbox!

Meanwhile…I also had some fun serving up coffee in my more elegant cup and saucer.  For a change.

That is an elegant coffee cup! A mimosa sounds good, but I waited to hop the blogs until evening so I might go for a glass of wine instead. Have a good week!

    1. I love the Old Country Roses, too; I picked them up a few at a time on sale, when one of our local department stores was going out of business. Macy’s is now in its place, so I know I can get replacements.

The author of Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes won me over with her two previous books. Thanks for stopping by, Catherine, and enjoy your week.

  2. Whew — busy blogging week for you! And nice haul, too. Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes looks lovely, and I like the blurb (which I read on Amazon – thanks for linking!) Too bad I blew several months’ book budget at the library booksale. Oh, well, I’ll put it on my “someday” list!

  3. HI laurel-Rain,

You have a great mix of styles and genres this week, however the one which caught my eye, is ‘How To Be A Good Wife’, which I discovered is already on my list, so is now a real must for me to get my hands on a copy.

I love your chintzy cup and saucer this week. This type of china is really making something of a resurgence, here in the UK, especially if it is mis-matched. There are several companies leasing out mis-matched china for wedding receptions and in charity shops such as the one in which I volunteer, we have seen a definite up-turn in sales.

Me, I’m more of a mug person, I always feel uncomfortable with those dinky little cups!

Have a great week and enjoy your reading,

    Yvonne

    1. Yes, mugs actually suit me better….when I took a sip from this dainty cup, I immediately spilled some coffee! Obviously I’m not dainty….but I do love pretending to be…lol. Thanks for stopping by, Yvonne, and hope you enjoy How To Be a Good Wife.

  4. I have a set of cups exactly like that, but I love tea from them rather than coffee. Snowflakes and Coffee Cakes looks enticing. Will be watching Goodreads to see what you rate it.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Kathryn, and I’m looking forward to Snowflakes, too. You’re probably right that tea would be better from the dainty cups. I love visiting a Victorian restaurant in a nearby village that serves High Tea. Very posh. Enjoy your week.

  5. I collect pretty tea cups and I have some beautiful old ones from my grandmothers, but I drink tea not coffee 🙂 I am amazed by how much you get done on your blog, well done! Congrats on your 4th blogoversary too. Have a great week and happy reading!

    1. Thanks, Teddyree….some weeks are busier than others, and I was also amazed at this past one. The year 2009 saw a lot of my blogs spring to life. But there are too many of them to celebrate all the blogoversaries, so I focused this year on Curl up and Read.

The tea cups do remind me of my grandmother….she had lots of pretty things like that. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great new week.

  6. I have a treasured tea cup that was part of my Grandmother’s collection. Each granddaughter received one after she died. They’re little works of art, aren’t they? Even better is knowing the history.
One more reason to love reading – makes going to the DMV have a silver lining: more reading time 🙂 Congrats on four years of blogging!

    1. Thanks, Mary…and I have a practice of always having a book handy for those lines, wherever they might be.

Our treasures from our grandmothers are very special, aren’t they? Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your week!

    1. In one of the soap operas that I’ve watched for years (Young and the Restless), the character of Katherine Chancellor had one of the Royal Doulton/Royal Albert sets that she sipped coffee and tea from for years. It was the dark blue floral design…I forget the name of it.

Thanks for stopping by, Sam, and enjoy your week.

    1. Oh, so do I, Kathy….the resin figurines are from the Jim Shore line. I used to frequent a shop in the neighborhood mall that had all the things you see in my photos…fairytale images, too. The shop went out of business….probably just as well for my wallet! LOL

And I can’t wait to read both of those books, too. Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your week.
