WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES: AUTUMN IS OUT IN FULL COLOR

PicMonkey Collage-updates collage

Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post,  Book Dragon’s Lair, for Mailbox Monday, and Book Journey, for What Are You Reading?

This week was one of upended plans and serendipitous moments.  You know the kind…you’re planning one thing, and then it doesn’t work out, and you are on a road to rediscovering spontaneity.

One of my spontaneous events was a midweek showing at the movies.  I saw The Family, with Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert DeNiro:  A riveting story about a mob family hiding out in the Witness Protection program…and how they cannot quite stay hidden.

That shook up my week just enough that it felt as though I’d been on a little trip somewhere.

  1. The Whole Golden World is on my wishlist. I want to read that one! Glad you enjoyed going to the movies. It’s fun to just up and do something. I don’t know much about that movie except I like both the lead actors’ work, but I have had fun in the past reading books about the witness protection program. Enjoy your week.

    1. My daughter loved it, so I thought I’d give it a try. And I was not disappointed. What made the event so much fun for me was the spontaneity in doing it midweek, and having a martini at the neighborhood bistro before going into the theater. Like a little vacation.

Thanks for stopping by, Rita, and I am very eager to read The Whole Golden World…I have enjoyed several other books by this author.

  2. The Whole Golden World looks interesting, and I am glad you enjoyed the movie. I am a homebody so a trip to the movies always feels like I went on a mini vacation or adventure too..LOL It is cold and rainy here today, we lit the fireplace last night..yep fall is here!

  3. Ah serendipity we just love it don’t we? The Family sounds like fun, haven’t been to a movie in a while but that one looks good. Love going to movies during the week when no one is there! Emjoy the fall colors, they’re showing up here now too. Have a great week!

    1. I didn’t realize how much it feels like playing hooky to get out midweek, but I think I should do it more often. If I do it too much, though, then it will lose its spontaneity…lol. Thanks for stopping by, Greg.

    1. I’ve had my eye on Summerland for awhile, so when I saw it on the discount table, I couldn’t miss the chance. Thanks for stopping by, Yvonne…enjoy your week.

I love any movie with Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert DeNiro can be fun. I didn’t like him in The Fockers, though.

    1. Thanks, Teddyree…and I hope to love Cartwheel. I don’t know when I’ll get to read it, but my spontaneity “gene” might just let me do it sooner, rather than later. Glad you could stop by…enjoy your week.

    1. The actors were the reason I could not miss this one. Sometimes I can wait until the DVD comes out, but some movies need to be seen on the big screen. Thanks for visiting, Pat, and enjoy your week.

  4. Rain from Tropical Storm Karen has made it feel like fall here. The leaves are really getting serious about turning and it was really too chilly this evening for a run in my summer clothes but I toughed it out anyway. I have a love/hate relationship with this time of year. It’s so beautiful I love it, but I hate that it means winter is getting closer. Enjoy your week!

    1. Yes, I can see how that would be an issue, Jen…your winters are definitely more brutal than ours…although our fog is intimidating when driving.

Thanks for stopping by…and enjoy your week…and your running.

  5. Big Girl Panties sounds good! I can’t wait for Halloween either. 🙂 How do you like having both Amazon and Barnes and Noble? I have Prime so I’m not quite sure how to utilize my B&N membership yet.

Enjoy your books and the rest of this beautiful autumn!

    1. I have a B & N membership with a 25% discount, but I still buy most books from Amazon….the B & N bargain table is tempting, though.

I haven’t tried Prime yet…it sounds great, but the annual cost is steep. Thanks for stopping by, Ellen.

  6. The Woman Who Cried Murder looks quite interesting, and you’ve been very busy as usual 🙂

I love fall colors, unfortunately, here the leaves are already falling off threes, without the colors having been achieved yet 😦 oh, well, it also means we’ve had pretty nice weather so far 🙂

    Happy reading.

    1. I don’t like the falling leaves…the gardeners blow them off the lawns and paths and right onto my patio, where I have a big stack to clear out every week…GRRR.

Why don’t they have gardening tools that suck the leaves up instead of just blowing them out somewhere else? My rant for the day.

Thanks for stopping by, Lexxie. Enjoy your week!
