WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES: BANNED BOOKS, BLOGGIESTA, & MORE — SEPT. 22

PicMonkey Collage-updates collage

Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post,  Notorious Spinks Talks Books, , Beauty in Ruins, for Mailbox Monday, and Book Journey, for What Are You Reading?

This has been quite the week!  Between reading and reviewing a “banned/challenged book,” (hosted by Sheila) and participating in Bloggiesta, there was plenty of reading that engaged me.  I did my work for Bloggiesta on this blog.  Note the changes in theme, header, sidebar, and pages.  Not to mention the background.  Hope you like it.

Last week found me “hunkering down,” with the month half over, and this week revealed how many review books are still left to devour.  Forging ahead!

I have plans to hurry through these books and pick up one or two more…to whittle down those review books on the stacks so I can grab one that I’m drooling over…a book that came in the mailbox last week.  Can you guess which one?

Come on by and let’s chat.  Bring coffee, because I might be curled up with my breakfast in bed.

    1. Thanks, Shelleyrae…it’s fun to do a little makeover, isn’t it?

I’m rethinking this whole review book/challenge thing, as the year quickly speeds along! Next year may be different. Hopefully. Glad you could stop by.

I am hoping to start The Girl You Left Behind this week…it sounds soo good!!! I won a copy of The Final Sentence last month but haven’t gotten around to reading it. I just love cozy mysteries and this one sounds like a fun one!

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by my blog!

    1. I agree, Vilia…and thanks for stopping by. I have been so consumed with my Amazon Vine review books and the occasional blog tour, that I’ve neglected my Mt. TBR books…..that must change! Enjoy your week.

  2. You have been a busy lady!!!

I am getting to a book this week that I have been wanting to read since I heard about it and seeing it on my shelf has been killing for the past 2 weeks and it’s not a cozy 🙂

    Happy Reading!!

  3. Nice changes to the blog! Very attractive. You have too many books above for me to say “me-too” about 🙂 I don’t have any of them but sure would like to read some. Looking forward to the reviews on some of them. Enjoy the week.

  4. Wow, what a week. Good for you! Off to get caught up on some of your posts… as for Final sentence, that cover makes me want to go to the beach. 🙂 And I like the tray at the end!

  5. I haven’t been keeping track of which books that I’ve read this year have been banned. Since I have been reading a lot of new books I imagine that some of them will probably be banned eventually ( any truly creative book has something in it that is sure to offend someone at some point). I mean really, how can you make an impression with a story, have an effect on people, without offending someone?

    1. So true, Alyce…when I first saw the lists of banned books, I could not believe that some of my childhood favorites were on it (Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn), not to mention favorites of adulthood. Yes, if I love something, it is probably offensive to someone! lol

  6. Hi Laurel-Rain,

A few fellow bloggers have already read and reviewed the Jojo Moyes book and universally, all have been singing its praises, so you should be set for a good read there!

I love the cover of ‘Murder At Castle Rock’ and am tempted to add it to my list.

You are always so busy with your books and reading, that it is hard to keep up with you, but I hope that you enjoy every moment of your latest finds.

  7. Laurel, I have to jump on the bandwagon and say that the JoJo Moyes book interests me, too–a lot! Enjoy all of your new books and blogging this week. Your new blog design is wonderful.

  8. I’ve got The Girl You Left Behind waiting patiently for me, *sigh* shouldn’t have said yes to so many review & NetGalley books lol. Love the background on your blog, it’s soooo cute!!

    1. Thanks, Teddyree….I love the background, too….from Pinterest. The colors make me feel happy, not to mention the VW Bug!

I had planned to stop accepting so many reviews…and then, suddenly, I had another stack of them. Taking the attitude of: Oh, I’ll just take this one.

Glad you could stop by…I want to read that book soon, too!
