TSS: HAPPY EASTER! WELCOME TO SPRING — MARCH 31

sunday salon logoOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Good morning, and welcome to another Sunday Salon.  After several very spring-like days, I awoke this morning to rain and the rumblings of thunder.

And I am supposed to go to a barbecue today!

Well, perhaps it will all clear up…and what am I complaining about, when some of you are still facing snow?  lol

I had a strange week.  After many months of following my reading list almost exactly, with the only changes being a book added at the end, I had another week in which I had to put a book aside.  DNF!  I hate when that happens!

I never know if I should mention the book by name….and I’m sure that the book is one many have enjoyed.  But I just could not connect to the characters…sigh.

But I do have some blogging moments to share.

  1. Your weather sounds like ours. I know what you mean about not connecting to the characters. I do that sometimes. I have gone back later and enjoyed the book and then I’ve gone back and still not been able to read it. It just happens. You have an interesting selection here. Hope you have a sunny Easter day afterall.

    1. It could happen, Mason…it’s still early! I didn’t see this rain coming, but I haven’t been paying attention to weather reports…lol.

DNF books frustrate me, but I have learned that, if I haven’t connected by p. 100, it probably won’t happen. At least not now. Maybe later.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your day!

  2. It is not raining at the moment, but they are giving thunderstorms for today. I hope it stays down in South Alabama. We have several people coming for a barbeque and don’t have room inside the house for all. We were counting on a pretty day picnicking and hiding eggs out by the lake.

  4. Hi Laurel – now I’m curious what the book you DNF was? hmm. I won’t go there! Today I’m packing for a spring holiday in Florida tomorrow, hooray! Enjoy your Easter.

  5. I think we’ve all run across DNFs… I used to feel guilty, but now I look at my approximately 500-book to-read list and think, there are too many interesting books out there to waste time on one that isn’t grabbing me.

It may not be that the book isn’t good, just that I’m not coming to it at the right time. I almost missed out on the Harry Potter books because of that — tried to read the first one at a time of huge emotional and physical stress (medical issues, thankfully solved.) I probably couldn’t have connected with *anything* new at that point, and I almost didn’t try again. Luckily, I eventually did, and loved it.
