Good morning, Sunday Saloners!
Here in California’s Central Valley, the temperature is dropping to a more “autumn-like” number. Yesterday I even had to close the patio door mid-morning, as I was actually feeling cold.
I am very happy about this turn of events, as I am so ready for brisk days.
For some reason, my reading week seemed to take on a snail’s pace, partly because I was reading longer books, especially my third one, an historical novel full of dense details.
But I can’t blame the books entirely. I was also caught up in the blissful obsession of two new toys: my new TV, which I enjoyed way too much this week; and my new printer/scanner/fax machine.
Since buying Louisa May, my new laptop, I have been without my old printer and scanner—incompatible with the computer.
But my youngest son arrived with this combination device that has brought me back into the world of scanning. I used it yesterday to post some of my Saturday Snapshots.
Here is my office with its newest addition:
Yes, it is more crowded, but I rearranged things so I can still work!
On the Blogs:
I posted my Row 80 Round Four Check-In; and then, later in the week, featured my Sweet Saturday Sample: After the Bliss; followed by my Weekend Potpourri post: Cozy Moments.
Reviews:
1. More Than You Know – by Penny Vincenzi
2. Dangerous Affairs, by Diana Miller
3. The Heir, by Barbara Taylor Bradford

Today I hope to start reading a book from next week’s stack: Sweet Tooth, by Ian McEwan. I’ve been noticing this one around the blogs, and I have enjoyed several books by this author.
I also plan to kick back and watch some movies on the DVR. What about the rest of you? Books? Movies? Outings?
Today, I did some farm work – clearing trails, cleaning brush. Now, to work on the staircase that will become – I hope – a stack of books. Some reading this afternoon – Uwem Akpan. Then, I will wrap with some Netflix and Supernatural. Not a bad Sunday. But first, more coffee. 🙂

You’re very energetic! I like the idea of a stack of books that will become a staircase (or vice versa!)
And yes, you need more coffee.
Thanks for visiting, Andi.

I spent most of yesterday at the readathon, so I hope today to get outdoors and spend a little time in the sun!
Enjoy your day!

Like you, I am so glad for the cooler weather! We’re up in the mountains so our nights and mornings have been quite chilly, but we’re still rising into the upper 70s/low 80s during the day. Last night was the first night we had to spark up our wood stove! I have some Penny Vincenzi books in my stacks – I really need to try one of them! Have a great week 🙂

I really love Vincenzi’s books…they are a bit longer than my usual, but worth it. Thanks for visiting, Wendy.

Happy Sunday. It’s fall weather up here too. But I don’t mind as long as I have a good book to read. Tonight I plan on catching up on DVR TV shows – and read some more. I hope you enjoy the McEwan book this week. Thanks for stooping by the blog and Happy Sunday!

My reading also seems to have slowed down a bit this week, and a bit last week. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I’m reading Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms.
It has also begun to get cool here in the Washington metro area, which is definitely a good thing, I’m also ready for the cooler weather.
Today, I plan on reading some, hanging out with my son, and hoping to watch some football.

My reading has been going slow, too, and I’m not sure why. I love the cooler weather.

I think we might be going through a transition, but when the cooler weather sticks, we’ll curl up and read again. Thanks for visiting, Yvonne.

I’ll be waiting to see what you think of Sweet Tooth. I haven’t heard very many opinions of it yet, but lots of speculation about it.

So far so good, Rachel, but I’ve barely started it. I’ve also frittered away time today watching movies. I like doing that on a Sunday, though. Thanks for stopping by.

More books for now as we usually watch The Voice, The X Factor, Masterpiece Theater, and a few others on TV. Just saw Argo the film. Pretty good!

I’ve been curious about Argo…glad you liked it. I just may have to check it out. Thanks for visiting, Harvee.

Yesterday, it was catching up with sleep as I volunteered overnight at a hospice Saturday night, but now that I’m caught up, I’m back to reading.
As for technology, especially TV, it can be a giant time-killer and distraction from reading, that’s for sure. I know because my wife and I are currently caught up in watching Fringe and just discovered a British show called Gavin and Stacey (only three seasons, though 😦 ).

Definitely a distraction (TV), but oh, so much fun! Especially when a new viewing season begins.
Thanks for stopping by, Bryan…and enjoy your shows and your books.
