TSS: A NOD TO FATHERS & A NEW WEEK — JUNE 17

Good morning, Sunday Saloners, and welcome to a new HOT week!

For those who are fathers, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

Here in Central California, it is early…only 5:19 a.m., and I’m already very toasty warm.

Wonder what the day will bring?

Yesterday, in my Saturday Snapshot post, I remembered a long hot summer and what I did to beat the heat.

Here’s a clue….the woodsy feel of Santa Cruz.

Now I already feel cooler….

The other day, I prepared a cool lunch of iced tea and an egg salad sandwich….

I sat at this table, with the open window (it was still cool enough) and felt great.

What do you do to beat the heat?

Well, here’s another thing.  In my Tuesday Potpourri:  Enticing books and Cozy Places.

Or Thursday Potpourri:  Chilling with a Good Book.

On Saturday, I tossed out a Sweet Saturday Sample:  Post Vacation Ponderings.

As for my reading: (click titles/covers for reviews)

I posted a review of a book I finished in May:  Ocean Beach, by Wendy Wax

Then….I FINALLY finished American Legacy:  The Story of John & Caroline Kennedy, by C. David Heymann

The Long Way Home, by Karen McQuestion

Scotsmen Prefer Blondes, by Sara Ramsey

The Red Book (e-book), by Deborah Copaken Kogan

***

Whew!  I think I’m going to take a break from reading today.  Movies, perhaps?  What about the rest of you?  What’s on your agenda?

    1. Yes, air conditioning is definitely wonderful…which is why my Saturday Snapshot about escaping the heat was so great. I didn’t have any AC then in my house in the supposedly cooler foothills…lol Just evaporative cooling, which doesn’t work when the temps exceed 100.

I am happy that I now have AC in my city condo. Thanks for visiting, Unfinished Person.

  1. That tea and egg sandwich looks good, but I’ll wait for dinner to eat today!
I’m reading An Unmarked Grave by Charles Todd for a book tour on Tuesday. Hope you will stop by then! We beat the heat today with lightning and heavy rain for a couple hours. It has stopped now and cooled down a lot! The garden is breathing a sigh of relief, and so am I. Have a great reading week!

    1. Oh, I guess I’ll take the heat over lightning and heavy rain! Light rain doesn’t bother me, but the stormy weather that leads to power outages, etc., is not enjoyable to me….Thanks for stopping by, Harvee, and I can imagine that the garden is breathing a sigh of relief.

  2. To beat the heat, I simply try to read and/or watch a movie with my wife. Fortunately, it hasn’t been too hot here in northern Virginia yet. I expect all that to change though in the next couple of weeks.

You definitely got quite a bit of reading done this past week, wish I could say the same! This week, I’m looking at trying to get a bit more reading done, and then, who knows! A trip to the hospital may be in order if my wife goes into labor! I hope you have a great week!

    1. Toward the end of a pregnancy, it always feels as though time is moving in slow motion…as if the birthday will never come! I am wishing you all the best…yet enjoy your last few days together.

      Everything changes after…lol

Thanks for visiting, Jeremy, and enjoy the week.
