TSS: WRAPPING UP A CHALLENGING WEEK — JUNE 3

Welcome to our first Sunday Salon in June!  As some of us are headed to BEA in New York, the rest of us have the opportunity to participate in Armchair BEA.  I’m there!

Meanwhile, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the week, especially from Thursday on, once my oral surgery was behind me!  Egads…I am feeling better every day, enjoying my reading, and yesterday my granddaughter Fiona and I went to the movies and lunch.

We saw What to Expect When You’re Expecting  (again, Dark Shadows time frame didn’t work!); and it was okay….even funny in parts.

Lunch at Dai Bai Dang was a great choice, as not only do they have a variety of stuff, I found SOUP for me!  Yes, still on the soft foods.

Now…on to the blogging and reading.  Here’s what my week looked like:

TUESDAY POTPOURRI:  WHAT IS HAPPINESS?

FANTASIES, SNIPPETS, & DREAMS

THURSDAY POTPOURRI:  A BOOK, A PAINTING, & MOMENTS FROM THE PAST

KREATIV BLOGGER AWARD:  THANKS, LAURA!

MAY READING WRAP-UP:  A SERIES OF ADVENTURES

SWEET SATURDAY SAMPLES: MORE PRANKS & ADVENTURES

Read/Reviewed:

Ocean Beach, by Wendy Wax (Review will be posted on June 15) (Five stars!)

Son of Rosemary, by Ira Levin (three stars)

Ninepins (e-book), by Rosy Thornton (Five stars!)

Still Reading:

American Legacy:  The Story of John and Caroline Kennedy, by C. David Heymann

In addition, today I plan to read some on The Girl Below, by Bianca Zander.  So far, it’s quite interesting.

What does your Sunday look like?  Any exciting plans/adventures?  I hope you’ll stop by and share…..

    1. What would we do without our books? I love Mary Engelbreit’s slogan, My Books are Friends that Never Leave Me!

As for Ninepins…it was a book that seemed to enfold me with its language, settings, and the characters. I would love to see that one on the Big Screen.

Thanks for stopping by, Harvee…enjoyed your interview with the author of Bridge of Scarlet Leaves.

    1. I plan to read today, too; yesterday’s movie adventure satisfied me for the weekend! And my granddaughter left last night to go to her dad’s house.

I probably won’t even leave the house at all today! Thanks for stopping by, unfinished person, and I can definitely say that the oral surgery was the least amount of fun I’ve had this week! lol

      Thanks for visiting…enjoy your day!

I am so glad you are feeling better! My kids went to see Dark Shadows and didn’t like it. They are way too young to remember the tv series. They told me, “Mom, wait until it’s on HBO.” HMMMM really wanted to see that one.

    Happy Reading!

    1. You know, Lori, I’ve also heard from others that Dark Shadows didn’t live up to their expectations. I loved the TV series, but sometimes I think you can’t really recapture something that “iconic” from the past.

I told my granddaughter that we should probably wait for the DVD, since our timing has been so poor…and perhaps it’s telling us something!

Thanks for stopping by…enjoy your weekend.

  3. Hi! Glad your oral surgery is over and done with now. I am ignoring the queen’s diamond jubilee madness that has gripped my country and am kicking back with a book and sorting through the many photos I have taken lately and then just left on a memory card. Have a great day!

    1. I am intrigued by the Diamond Jubilee, since I remember watching the coronation on TV back in the day. Only two students in our school had a TV, and we watched at one of the homes. That probably excited us more than the actual coronation.

Thanks for stopping by, Nose in a Book…and I totally concur that having the oral surgery behind me is better than anticipating it!

  5. Today, my wife and I went to church, and we’re hoping to cookout here in a little bit. This week, I’m looking at reading Gone With the Wind.

My wife and I were considering perhaps seeing What To Expect When You’re Expecting, and thought it might be best to get it from Netflix when it comes out on DVD. We’ve also been reading the book! I hope that you have a great week!

    1. Yes, I thought about you while watching that movie…and you can wait for the DVD. I was just looking for a movie to attend with my granddaughter, and she agreed to see this one.

I loved GWTW when I read it…I was so young at the time, and read it about three times! I have it sitting in my office, waiting for a reread. Thanks for stopping by, Jeremy, and enjoy your week.

    1. That’s the worst thing about vacation…unpacking. Second only to packing up in the first place!

Once you’ve rested, I hope you still feel the glow of all your adventures. Thanks for stopping by, Patty, and enjoy your week.
