First off: what do you all think about the mandatory timeline coming to Facebook this next weekend?
Are you excited? Rolling your eyes? Wondering what they will change next?
Well, when I heard, I must admit I wasn’t happy. I have visited a few pages with timeline and…well, sort of got lost. The page seems to have too much STUFF.
But, since it’s coming, I decided to jump the gun and create mine. I’m in control that way…right?
So…any thoughts?
Meanwhile, my week hasn’t been outstanding, but not too bad, either. I read three books. But the good news…they were all from my Old TBRs, which are now numbering in the thirty-somethings.

I’m really happy to have cleared three books off my Old TBRs (the ones that have been around for YEARS!).
Today I’m reading a book from next week’s stack…getting a jump start on the week. And it’s really good so far.

I don’t mind about the Timeline thing too much. Facebook has been constantly changing since I joined in 2007 so I quit worrying about it. I’ll get used to it eventually and enjoy it.
Yay Ian McEwan!! Love his stuff. I just bought his latest book Solar at the Taipei Book Expo.

It seems that FB makes a change every few months or so.
The Kleypas book is on my TBR list so I’ll watch for your review. I’m reading a fun novel: Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman by J.B. Lynn. And, of course, I’m looking forward to watching Downton Abbey this evening. Have a great week!

Yes, Mary, Facebook certainly changes a lot. The worst thing (to me) about Timeline is that the page takes a long time to load since there’s so much stuff.
I also notice that the “friends” are no longer listed alphabetically, so I have to do a search if I don’t want to scroll through, wearing my eyes out! lol

Not sure how I feel about the facebook timeline. It’s a good idea, I think…so lots of people can find out more about you, hah! I’;d love to see the movie, Atonement. And I agree the cover of the last book is very appealing. Happy reading week!

I have my DVD of Atonement, just waiting….I might watch it today.
As for the timeline, I think the “jury” will be out on that issue for awhile. Personally, I’m finding it frustrating just waiting for the page to load…all that stuff on it.

I don’t really like the Timeline, either. I switched to it when I got Pinterest added to it last week – caught me by surprise, but I rolled with it. Whatever. I post for my book blog daily… but personally? I guess I don’t do that much, so I have no idea if I like it, yet, or not. There’s definitely a lot more info on each person right off the bat – I think that’s a plus. Finding out what they’re actually up to tho? Like “timeline” implies is easier? Well… that’s harder. So, we’ll see!!!

Nothing new is ever easier…until we adjust. The page loading more slowly is a downside for me….but I’m going to try to give it a chance to “grow” on me!

I’m not sure if I like the new Facebook timeline myself. I changed over to it a couple of weeks ago. It looks more cluttered than it used to. I understand why Facebook makes these changes, it’s to try to keep people coming back and logging in, and to keep the experience fresh. They probably want to avoid the trap of sharing Myspace’s downward decline.
Today, my wife and I will watch the Super Bowl and go to one of her cousin’s basketball games. I plan on getting some more reading done this week, and then need to get the baby’s room painted next weekend. I hope you have a great week!

Sounds exciting! Getting the baby’s room ready is one of those experiences one never forgets…although it has been MANY years since my firstborn arrived. He is now a photographer living in Europe….

Gahhh…you mentioned My Space, and I definitely recall that downhill slide. It got so horrible, I deleted my page a couple of times. Now I won’t go back.

I think too much is made of the timeline change. To me, it’s not a big deal and we shouldn’t complain. It’s free. If we paid for it, then sure we all might have a right to complain, but not as is…plus you still can edit who sees what. So no big deal to me.

Yes, being able to edit things is great….I had to remove some “tagged” photos that I didn’t want…and then put in a feature where I have to approve these things.
Thanks for stopping by, unfinished person. Most of the time, I get in an uproar about something, and then calm down. Which is why I put it out there. Getting the perspective of others does help.

I am slow to take the jump on the Facebook change although I admit I like the big picture along the top and am wondering what one I would like to use for this….
Reading through your comments I like that there is a way to approve tagged items first… THAT makes me happy….. maybe I will play with that a bit later today.. hopefully it is not too hard to figure out.

Yes, the big “cover” photo kind of hooked me, too, and I am also happy to be able to approve tags ahead of time. I’ve had too many situations with photos tagged, with no way to remove them.

I appear to have missed out on the Facebook timeline. Most of my friends have been updated but not me.
Today I spent most of my reading time chipping away at ‘Anthropology of an American Girl’ by Hilary Thayer Hamann. I started this when I was in LA in January and it’s taking a while! So I’m hoping that I’ll move onto some other reading this week.

I put mine up yesterday, and I’m liking it except for how long it takes to load the page (with all the stuff on it!). I like my cover photo…I’ve seen some that were blurry, etc., so I’m pleased that mine wasn’t.

I loved Atonement. It was one of my favorite reads of my graduate school years. I hadn’t even heard about the mandatory timeline on Facebook. I can never keep up with what is going on on Facebook.

I found out by accident, Laura…someone posted about it. I don’t spend a lot of time hanging out there; just go to check on my pages, and, of course, on the Sunday Salon page.
