Welcome to the fabulous Sunday Salon, where we gather to share our week’s events, including reading, blogging, and life.
Today is the last Sunday before our Thanksgiving holiday, and this past week, there have been opportunities to talk about gratitude.
Book Blogger Hop – What Are You Thankful For?
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I’m participating in NaNoWriMo, and we’re on the final stretch, with November 30 just around the corner.
Yesterday, I entered my word count at 45,785 (with a 50,000 word goal); today I plan to add some more. I’m very excited about this challenge, and so far (knock wood!), I haven’t lost interest in my story, which is crucial for avoiding that writer’s bugaboo—writer’s block!
Reading Events – (Click Titles for Reviews):
1) Once in a Blue Moon, by Eileen Goudge
2) Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter, by Tom Franklin
3) Sweet Caroline: Last Child of Camelot, by Christopher Andersen
Now I’m hoping to click around the blogosphere, finding out what the rest of you have been up to…hope you’ll stop by.
Sounds like all is going well with your writing and you will reach your goal. All of your books sounds interesting, but especially SWEET CAROLINE. For someone who has been in the spotlight all of her life, she is a truly remarkable lady.

There was a lot in the second half of the book that was new to me, probably because Caroline succeeded in keeping out of the news some of the time.
Thanks for stopping by, Mason.

I’m excited about it, Harvee…so far, I’m still enjoying my story, which is crucial for me. I have two other WIPs that I lost interest in after I almost finished. But I’m sure I’ll go back to them. Sometimes, all it takes is a break.
Thanks for stopping by.

Wow, almost there! Incredible stuff. I have to say the Tom Franklin book appeals most to me – it sounds like it has such an interesting structure – and a wonderful cover too!

Oh, I agree, Clare…once I got past the “ambling” beginning, which in retrospect was invaluable in setting the tone of the book, I couldn’t put it down.
Thanks for stopping by.

NaNo seems to lend itself towards helping you out of writer’s block, which is nice…

Yes, I’ve participated in a couple other challenges this year that have propelled me forward on my WIPs. After NaNo, it’ll be time to edit everything I’ve done.
Thanks for stopping by, Amanda.

Congratulations with that large word count. I can’t imagine how you stuck with it so long. I’ll bet your insides feel very happy.
I would love to read about Caroline. I remember so clearly that awful day when she lost her father. Heartbreaking. Now she is a charming woman whom we see and think of as shy. I wanted her to get the seat in the senate. It didn’t happen. Once there I think she would have been a credit to New York. Love your Word Press blog. I’m still fiddling around.

Thanks, lemon123…I think it’s important to have an incentive. When I wrote my first five novels, the only incentive I needed was to tell my stories…it gets harder after awhile, though, so the challenges are very useful.
Glad you could stop by.

Thanks, Alyce…after finishing up my 3,000 + words this morning, I went back and did another 2,500 +, bringing my total to 51,374. So I guess I’m done, but I’ll keep plugging along until time to upload for the word counts, since the “novel” isn’t done, in my opinion.
