THE SUNDAY SALON — NOV.14

Good morning, and welcome to The Sunday Salon. Here we come together to shine a spotlight on the exciting events of the past week, including blogging, reading, and any other events we’ve enjoyed.

I’m still very excited at the end of Week Two of NaNoWriMo. It’s early morning, so I haven’t yet done my word count for today, but yesterday I added more than 3,000 words.  My cumulative total so far is 28,161 words. I hope to add another 3,000+ today.

On the blogging front, I’ve moved another site from Blogger to Word Press, and my former Out on a Limb is now Going Out on a Limb over at WP.  I’ve been having fun setting it up and recreating it.

Some posts I enjoyed:

A Bit of Me (Me): Skill Sharpening

Saturday Snapshot

Friday Memes:  56/Beginnings

Family Stuff:

I had a delightful day on Saturday with my granddaughter Fiona.  We did a little shopping, we went to lunch, and then went back to my place to watch a DVD.

Here’s a photo of her taken at the restaurant where we had lunch (Dai Bai Dang).

Lunch Date with Fiona

And now for the reading. Not as spectacular as some other events, but I thoroughly enjoyed the two books I finished.  And I’m midway through the third one, which I could finish today.

Books Read and Reviewed –  (Click Titles for Review):

1)  Outtakes from a Marriage, by Ann Leary

2)  My Best Friend’s Girl, by Dorothy Koomson (another one off the TBR piles!)

Ongoing:

1)  Once in a Blue Moon, by Eileen Goudge

What has your week been like?  Hope you’ll stop by and share….

    1. I know…I can’t believe it’s Sunday already! But thanks for stopping by, Mason, and for the kind words. Now that some of my grandkids are teenagers, I have to schedule our times together! LOL

I’m loving Once in a Blue Moon…it’s about two sisters who grew up in separate foster homes, separated for years. It reminds me of my three decades as a social worker.

Now I’m going to read some more, including the Sunday paper; then back to work on my NaNoWriMo project!

      Have a great week.

  1. Wow, you always accomplish so much in your week! I took a peek at your new word press blog, it’s so nice looking! Did you say you had FUN setting it up!? I’ve been avoiding even thinking about going the WP route because of what I thought would be a grueling set up! Nice job!

As far as reading… I’ve heard some great reviews of Once in a Blue Moon, and I love the cover too! I might have to pick this one up!

    Thanks for sharing your weeek!

    1. Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words, Suzanne…when I first set up a site on WP, it wasn’t easy and I had to ask a lot of questions. Sheila, at Book Journey, was a source of good info.

Now that I have eleven sites on WP (plus a group blog), it’s fun and easy to do. Of course, there are always new things to learn….

      Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Natalie…me, too. The weeks are just speeding by, and soon it will be…Christmas! I’m no where near ready!

Hope you have a great week, too, and thanks for visiting. My granddaughter is someone I see less often these days, with her busy social life, etc. So I treasure the moments we have.

  2. You have been busy! I’m very impressed with how much you’ve written for NaNoWriMo. I am stuck, I think, and may not finish by the end of the month, but will carry it on through whenever I finish! Glad you are enjoying your granddaughter 🙂 Have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Amanda…when I see the goal in sight, it seems doable. But from the beginning, I have set my daily, then weekly, goals. Those short-term goals are achievable and manageable, and that makes it all possible.

      Glad you could stop by.

    1. Thanks, Alyce…I enjoy taking a break to spend time with her. There wasn’t a movie we both wanted to see, so we did lunch and watched movies at home.

Today I exceeded my writing goal for the weekend, so I’m feeling good about what comes next week. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. What an impressive wordcount! I feel like I’m so far behind this year. I’m right where I should be, according to my stats page, but I’m usually pretty far ahead by this point in the game. Sigh.

    1. Oh, I know what that’s like…some of my writing buddies are way ahead. I’ve been pushing myself, just in case I hit a slump at some point…

Thanks for stopping by, Memory, and keep up the good work. The most important thing is that we finish by the end of the month.

  4. Hi Laurel….looks like you’ve read some good books and others lined up as well, plus getting to your writing….you are like my super-hero. How do you find the time?

    1. Thanks, Diane…What a wonderful comment! I do enjoy writing and reading, and somehow, neither feels like much of an effort. Although I must admit that there have been times in recent years when I’ve allowed the blogging to take over an inordinate amount of time. Now I’m seeking more of a balance, which is what this challenge is helping me to do.

      Thanks for stopping by!
